(Tulsa World) Dumbass Sen. Jim Inhofe says Obama's no patriot because he doesn't wear a flag pin. Uh, Jim? Check out McCain's lapel from the RNC. And Palin's. And Romney's. And Thompson's   (tulsaworld.com) divider line 144

Let's see, who ELSE didn't wear a flap pin at the RNC during their podium speeches...

Joe Lieberman

Fred Thompson

Cindy McCain (Thursday edition)

Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle

Sen. Norm Coleman

Mitt Romney

Gov. Sarah Palin

Sen. John McCain

So, all those Republicans are unpatriotic as well, right, Senator?

Lionel Mandrake [TotalFark] 2008-09-06 11:04:29 AM
Inhofe is without a doubt the dumbest person currently in the Senate. I am no Senate historian, but I would not be surprised if he was the dumbest ever.

This is not partisan. The man is just painfully, painfully stupid.

Petit_Merdeux [TotalFark] 2008-09-06 11:22:22 AM
Inhofe said Americans can show pride in their country in different ways but suggested all should be straightforward.

You know who else liked straight-forward displays of patriotism?

That's right!

Prince Harry!

Because embracing nationalism is a good thing, right?

Inhofe is a dumbass.

The amount of FAIL in Inhofe's comments cannot be measured by conventional means. If ever there was a time to recite the "insanely idiotic" speech from Billy Madison, it's now.

Just another way the Republicans are trying to be more like Obama...

That's because the Republicans prefer the fag pin...

Why are these people obsessed with farking lapel pins, anyway? It is the most pointless thing in the world. Any idiot could put a pin on and it doesn't mean a damned thing, either way. The big scary terrorists they all talk about could wear lapel pins... unless of course the pins are designed to melt in the hands of anyone who isn't a "true patriot."

PC LOAD LETTER [TotalFark] 2008-09-06 12:19:29 PM
Palin wore an ALASKAN state flag pin during his speech. I guess she does support her country.

Asa Phelps [TotalFark] 2008-09-06 12:21:48 PM
This is just pandering. Obama explained why he decided not to wear a flag pin ages ago.

ZAZ [TotalFark] 2008-09-06 12:28:20 PM
His spoken remarks seemed reasonable -- saying doubts exist is not the same as saying doubts are justified.

But then:

After he was asked for an explanation on why voters should question Obama's love for his country, Inhofe issued a written statement on Friday to clarify his earlier comments.

That written clarification is where he switches from saying voters do have doubts to saying voters should have doubts because of a missing lapel pin. And he presumably did that with full assistance of his PR staff. We're gonna need a bigger [DUMBASS] tag to hold them all.

JohnnyC 2008-09-06 12:30:27 PM
I guess he just wanted to defy Obama's message about "don't question each other's patriotism. We ALL love America".

We know Republicans are all patriotic. It's you socialists we need to worry about. Unless you're giving us signs and proof as to your patriotism, we're going to assume you're like the rest of the leftists and hate our country.

Obama needs the pin to remind us he's NOT a radical leftist bent on destroying what makes our country great.

They didn't have to. They generally had a large projection screen television with FLAG behind them.

It's these farking idiots that constantly confuse patriotism with flag worship that annoy the holy living fark out of me. How do these people get audiences?

FruitlandGenerics [TotalFark] 2008-09-06 01:29:51 PM
RevMercutio : He said lapel pin. Projection screens don't count. Besides, there certainly was no flag behind McCain - just blue and green screens and Walter Reed Middle School instead of the hospital the campaign wanted.

Actually, judging from Palin's flagpin on Thursday night, she's still in support of that Alaska Secessionist thing her husband flirted with.

Flag Pins - When in the holy living hell did that become the measuring stick of patriotism?

F-bear [TotalFark] 2008-09-06 01:41:02 PM
It's okay to gut the 1st and 4th amendments as long as you are wearing the right lapel pin.

States should be able to vote oust retarded politicians in other states.

Then tar them and feather them.

What's really sad is that a lot of morons here love him. He's hateful, and one of the worst instigators of partisan politics around.

Tom Coburn is just as bad, but at least he advocates fiscal responsibility and tries to do something on that front. Inhofe is just a jackass.

He really doesn't do anything for us either. He just makes grandstanding hate speeches, and the rubes in this state eat it up.

I really hope he loses in his re-election bid, but I know he won't. Makes me sick.

Why do people keep electing these idiots? We'd get people who were far less stupid if we just picked our politicians at random.

TheShavingofOccam123 [TotalFark] 2008-09-06 01:44:51 PM
Yeah, that's right. The issues in this election aren't record unemployment, record debt, record deficits, two wars, loss of constitutional rights, loss of privacy, corruption, etc. The real issue is whether or not someone wears a flag pin.

This is why the Republicans are going to lose. They run a 72 year old man who says "I don't know much about the economy" when we have a broken economy. They run a woman who believes in book-banning and no abortions ever when we have invasions of our privacy by the federal government.

Just remember the real issues. Jobs, deficits, debt, war, corruption, loss of rights.

NeverDrunk23 2008-09-06 01:46:01 PM
The fact that flag pins might be a deal breaker for some people in terms of voting really makes me afraid for this country's future.

Befuddled 2008-09-06 01:47:36 PM
Isn't this nonsense about lapel pins pretty bizarre considering that in North Korea, everyone must wear a lapel pin of the dear leader? It's almost like the rightwing whackos are taking notes from the most heinous and oppressive of regimes.
