Ahhh. I've been checking Snopes since I read this as a wall of text in a Fark forum. I'm glad to see that it's at least been proven to not be a fake.

True? Interesting.

Doesn't mean every bit is factual, of course, but it's already eleventy billion times more reliable than the Obama e-mail chains.

If half of that is true she is far too power obsessed and really maybe the reincarnation of Bush as Salon suggested today.

For trying to fire a librarian. Every heard of a librarian fired for incompetence? I never have...

I think Palin trying to fire the librarian in the first place speaks for itself.

Trying to fire a librarian for refusing to ban books is like trying to fire a firefighter for putting out an uncontrolled fire- both are only done to serve your own purposes.

The book banning thing is reason enough to give her the heave ho, in my opinion.

Folks like that should have as little power as possible... none at all would be preferable.

Yet here we are. You have to admit, the ability of the GOP to coerce normally honest folks into voting and thinking against their own best interests is breathtaking -- and destroying the country.

Of course, now that the media will do anything to make a buck, there's nobody at the helm of the fourth estate, and we're all f*cked.

Hey -- check it out: The difference between e-mail forwards about Obama and about Palin ... is that the one about Palin is TRUE!

Sigh. The sad, sad thing is that the McCain_palin ticket still has a puncher's chance. That's just retarded.

And Kilkenny turns up bigtime there.

Link (new window)

When the matter came up for the second time in October 1996, during a City Council meeting, Anne Kilkenny, a Wasilla housewife who often attends council meetings, was there.

Like many Alaskans, Kilkenny calls the governor by her first name.

May be a Gladys Kravitz type. And the censorship link is weak, she was never asked to censor anything and her request for resignation came at the same time as the police chief and other executive decisions. A new administration comes in and appointees change. Obama will get to make that kind of decision if/when he is elected.

First. There is a difference between a President coming in and changing house and a Mayor of a town of 5000.

Second. It's one thing to change the advisors or what not, maybe even the police chief, but zero reason to change the librarian who the community supports. She was the President of the Alaska Library Association at the time, your article states. Doesn't sound like someone you need to replace.

Third. Kilkenny's name came up in your article because The Boston Herald read her letter online and called her about the issue. They don't know anybody else in Wasilla. Journalists generally do the easiest thing possible. To actually dig through this story you'd have to fly someone to Wasilla and interview half the town. That takes time and money. Papers aren't cheap, but they aren't that expensive.

Also from your article: Both Emmons The Librarian and Stambaugh had publicly supported him against Palin.

That's probably a large part of why Palin wanted her gone. However, that's no reason to fire a librarian. Many, many people are "appointees" in government; yet, from one partisan administration to the next many people are kept. Bush kept some of Clinton's people, and Obama or McCain will keep some of Bush's.

"Cleaning house" isn't a reason to fire a librarian. She wasn't political glut. She wasn't economic glut. She was a librarian, doing her job. Palin is a douche for doing that. And after having lived in a small town, she is an even bigger douche, because small town life is hard and even when your enemies annoy you, you generally learn to deal with them, not eliminate them. What Palin did- attempting to put a woman into economic hardship in Alaskan job conditions for political reasons- in small town terms, is the epitomy of douche.

SEXISM!! SEXISM!! SEXISM!!

Not surprising that the wingnuts scream "sexism" anytime there's any critism whatsoever about Palin--including the 99.9% of criticism that has nothing to do with her gender--but another female writes down what she knows about her and it's immediately a "vagina biatch fest." You wingnuts are amusing.

True that, and justify it with an 80+% approval rating in Alaska. I just think portraying this person as just a "Wasilla housewife" is disingenuous. Longtime critic seems more apt.

536,042 people. That's 100,000 more than the city I live in, a fact I find quite funny, and simultaneously disconcerting.

She's been in office for 2 years...Bush's approval rating in October of 2001 was 90%...Besides, many people love their own politicians because they only care about their own city or state. Hell, Marion Freaking Barry got RE-ELECTED after all of his scandals.

PoopStain: Then we will have another Fark thread about it because it's all Palin, all the time.

Then again, if McCain had picked a VP that most people had actually heard of they wouldn't be going through the usual public vetting process. We've heard just about everything there is to hear about Obama, Biden, and McCain over the last few years...McCain and Biden in particular have been in gov't a LONG time, so it's pretty clear where they stand. We also know about most of the scandals (plagarism, adultery, etc) already. The GOP took a calculated risk - pick a candidate that hasn't been in gov't very long and HOPEFULLY it means she has less enemies and fewer skeletons and inconsistencies. They rolled the dice, now they have to sweat it out. If the Democrats had selected Toby Nobodyson for VP, we'd be seeing a zillion articles from Free Republic right now. Besides...the MSM has been giving her a free pass on her bridge to nowhere and earmark lies so they're going to ignore this anyway.

Third, I am just a housewife. I don't have a job she can bump me out of. I don't bellikely that this will cost me somehow in the future: that's life.ong to any organization that she can hurt. But, I am no fool; she is immensely popular here, and it is likely that this will cost me somehow in the future: that's life.

Something seems a bit out of place.

You all didn't help yourselves by latching on to a conspiracy theory from the get go, which rankles me to no end. You had plenty of legitimate ammunition to use. I also don't understand the virulent reaction to Palin from the left. Whenever I see an argument about her from an Obama supporter that I would otherwise expect from an 80 year old white Republican, I smile. We're all trolls deep down inside, some of us just won't admit it.

Well said and I agree. On the whole I think KOS is undermining the real case against Palin in the same way that the 9/11 truthers are actually aiding the Bush administration...I think Bush and Cheney would much prefer to deal with the baseless attacks from the wackos than answer the questions as to why they ignored the threats and their initial refusal to talk to the 9/11 commission. Unfortunately even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and again and anything they uncover that is true tends to get buried under all of the ridiculous stuff. I have never believed a single National Enquirer story and I always assume that whatever they write is a complete fabrication...but they got the Edwards story right so now I am conflicted - does getting a big story right give them any credibility or do I assume they've found their nut? If our mainstream media was actually interested in doing investigative reporting then we could ignore the KOS and Free Republic articles and trust that what our politicians are being held somewhat accountable for what they say and do. Sadly, I don't think Fox, CNN, or MSNBC even know what "fact checking" means.

It's on par with a single person's opinion about another person supported by millions. No way to know the truth. We get her side of the story only. So it's silly to get worked up about it until Palin can be questioned, and that ain't happening soon.

So grab a pillow like me, relax and wait for the interviews and debates, or go off and scream that Palin is the antiChrist based on one person's opinion.

If Palin is really that bad, we'll hear about it before we vote. We always do.
