But then there's Chrissie Peters. The 37-year-old librarian from Bristol, Tenn. has always voted Democratic and supported Clinton. She assumed she'd vote for Obama - until she saw Palin speak. Now she's voting Republican.

So, after one speech, she's voting Palin. I'd like to see a follow-up on this particular voter. I have a feeling librarians won't be voting for Palin.

And what about all the issues on which Palin differs so sharply from Clinton? "Principle trumps issues for this group," she says of her and others like her.

Someone stole my shoes so I'll amputate my legs. Good logic.

Actually, Clinton supporters should serioiusly consider Palin. Just consider this sterling record:

Palin was nearly recalled as mayor after firing the Police Chief and Library Director for not endorsing her in the 1996 election.

Palin as governor hired a Public Safety Commissioner who had to resign after two weeks due to sexual harassement charges.

Link (new window)

Gov. Palin also has plenty of experience in raising taxes such as the sales tax (new window) in the grand metropolis of Wassila and the windfall profits (new window) tax on Big Oil.

I think she's part of the huge "the only thing I know about Sarah Palin is what she and Republican speech writers have said about her and I'm actually dumb enough to make a decision based on that and only that" demographic.

Fortunately, demographics of this sort tend to shrink. You can bet librarians are or will soon be sending out e-mails, newsletters, making phone calls, etc.

No it's not! Holy shiat you have to be retarded to believe that. You're not supposed to want someone like you running the country, especially if they differ from your political view. You're supposed to want someone who's a lot better than you, because running the country is a farkload of responsibility.

The point of democracy is to elect someone for their competence and policy stands, not because you see yourself in them.

Let's run through a checklist. If you:
-reject a woman's right to choose,
-eat moose,
-reject all the science behind evolution,
-have 5 kids,
-reject all the science behind climate change,
-equate yourself to a rabid, inherently violent animal that also wears lipstick,

then you are NOT a regular person, you are far outside the mainstream. Down to earth? Seriously? She's the candidate of audacity, she ascended to the VP nomination after a 15 minute interview, and the majority of her political experience is running a small insular town of 6,700 residents.

Voting for someone because she's a woman, who has real problems, and stands for real change?

or

Perhaps some people are holding out to see how she handles an hour-long press conference with the national media.

Oh, that's right, she's not going to.

Why does the RNC continue to sequester Sarah Palin from journalists? Why are they so afraid of her directly answering questions about her character, experience, and policies?

Until Sarah Palin can demonstrate that she can deal with the national press, she deserves no elected position, let alone the vice presidency.

There's 60 days - and there's a lot of time for those who have been introduced to Ms. Palin on the basis of 1 speech. There will be those that love her immediately, but if they were formerly Hillary supporters for most of the right reasons, there will come a time when they'll have to consider the consequences of 4 years, some of which may actually be under Palin. She's a contradiction in some ways.

And, with a dive into the deepest bs waters of generalization, I truly believe that many women really won't like her after a little bit more time. Many women, in my opinion, don't like other women too much and find it easier to hate other women, with time. Hillary had a bigger base for sympathy amongst women, in my opinion, being publicly embarassed by her husband on the biggest stage...and retaining much of her dignity in a trying time. Disagree with me if you will; some would say it would have been divine justice if Bill had been snuffed in his sleep by Hillary. But she hung in there. You have to admire her guts if nothing else. Palin hasn't been there yet; we'll see if many of these women will learn to hate her.

If your voting for someone, their sex should not be an contributing factor at all. It's blatant sexism to do otherwise.

She has real problems. We all have real problems. What's your point?

What real change does she stand for? Everything we've heard about her seems to be a half-truth or a blatant lie, and the press isn't allowed anywhere near her.

How can you get behind someone being a heartbeat away from the Presidency when no one really seems to know anything at all about her other than irrelevant personal trivia?

John McCain is playing political Pygmalion and manufacturing a VP candidate because there were no other viable options, and some people are eating it up with a spoon.

Every concern that people demonstrated about Obama has been multiplied by a factor of 10 and given back to us by the McCain campaign in the form of Palin.

It's ridiculous.
