(Reuters) Interesting Biden responds to McCain campaign's assertion that "this election is not about issues." Seriously, this campaign has to be a bet between Randolph and Mortimer to gauge the stupidity of the American public   (blogs.reuters.com) divider line 151

Never under estimate the stupidity of the American people. We elected BushII and Clinton to second terms. And never ever bet on it.

clinton doesn't belong in that analysis. he might have been a man of loose morals and not the best president in our history, but he was a more than competent executive and his leadership gave us 8 years of relative peace and prosperity.

That was awful. I watched the speech. It was good. He called Republicans out for using their entire convention to trash Obama and not say a word about the real problems Americans are facing.

And this idiots take is "'Gaffe Machine' says election is so about the issues"???

This guy needs to be fired and replaced by an adult.

Mortimer Duke: I don't want Winthorpe back, after what he's done.
Randolph Duke: You mean, keep *Valentine* on as managing director?
Mortimer Duke: Do you really believe I would have a *(derogatory term for a black person)* run our family business, Randolph?
[Valentine's eyes widen with outrage]
Randolph Duke: Of course not. Neither would I.

We need to do this not because it's amusing, but for the same reason you let a kid hurt himself to teach him a lesson not easily forgotten.

The only way it's going to get better is after it gets way worse.

By 'he' i assume you mean Biden. Look at Biden's record, he's the same as all the others. He is one of the toughest "drug warriors" in congress. He is anti-liberty and pro big government control.

We are left with no choice but a bad one.

Eh...I happen to pretty much agree with you on that issue, but my point was that this blogger, apparently between watching episodes of Hannah Montana, jumped online and spewed nonsense, rather than anything remotely resembling reality, as seen by an adult.

This campaign is about a woman who is superior in everything to all mere mortals. She's a "Moose Hunting, Hockey Mom, Maverick".
She will singlehandedly reform government, solve the energy crisis, cut taxes, balance the budget, solve the trade deficit and win the war on terror, all while taking care of her special needs baby and planning the wedding of her 17 year old daughter.
She will do all this from a position that has no power and she'll look good doing it.

I say we just cancel the election now and appoint her queen.

It's really sad but if they succeed in making this about personalities the uneducated woman demographic is going to come out in droves and I, similarly in the last few elections, worry about the young vote coming out in even comparable numbers to balance this out.
