Republicans trying to exploit the injured troops suffering at Walter Reed for political gain just like they did when showing the planes crashing into the twin towers. Of course they were in charge on both 9/11 and when the Walter Reed scandal happened. Jesus, what a fail.

The columns in your image were clearly of the federal style, which is an architectural style that is defined by American institutional buildings - the White House, Capitol, etc. Obama's stage was nothing of the sort - it was clearly modeled around classical proportions, ornamentation, and decoration.

Probably. But if he doesn't hire competent people who don't know the difference between a hospital and a high school 3000 miles away, we can expect more of this.

But then, it's been a while since the GOP concerned themselves with accuracy or competence.

For Christ's sake. The McCain campaign has already released an official statement. This is a non-story that mindless liberal lemmings are going to try and make hay over for nothing.

---

Early reports this morning are suggesting that the "green screen" backdrop used by Senator McCain during his speech last night were intended to depict the Walter Reed Medical Facility, but actually--and mistakenly--depicted Walter Reed Middle School in North Hollywood, CA. This is an inaccurate assessment of the situation. McCain staffers thoroughly vetted a variety of locations to be used as a backdrop for the presidential nominee's speech, and settled deliberately on Walter Reed Middle School for several reasons. The fact that it is a middle school represents the sincere connection that the McCain campaign has to middle America, the lifeblood of this great country, and further depicts our sincere appreciation of the fact that children--even children in a traditionally liberal stronghold such as California--represent the future of this great nation. By choosing a middle school sharing the same name as the Walter Reed Medical Facility, John McCain is demonstrating his sincere appreciation and hope that the young Americans attending this facility of education will grow up to be the sort of American heroes who will one day possibly be served by the Walter Reed Hospital. This is the great hope and fervent prayer of our candidate--that all Americans, even those not appreciated by the urban elite, recognize the potential of a hero within themselves without having to lose five and a half years of their own lives in the process.

All federalist architecture is based on classical proportions and ornament. You think the corinthian order was invented in the US?

You should avoid speaking of things you know nothing about.

The Federalist stle was based on the classical style, but developed due to popular materials, craftsmanship, etc. of the time. It was not a revival of the style. Obama's stage was more classical than it was federalist.

At first I was joking, now my concern has grown serious.

I have no idea what you mean by that. In fact it dosen't really make any sense at all.

Obama used the doric order.

Bush a composite-corinthian.

Both can be found all over the US.

The doric is often chosen becaus it is amazingly cheap to produce. The corinthian is by far the most costly.

Again, Obama's set was impossibly ugly and far from any real classic proportion. It looked comical. But saying it was designed to look like some kind of greek temple is absurd.

Funny thing is that the bloggers and the opinion column writers seem to be more onto this than anyone in McCain's camp -- nobody there seems to be aware of the problem.

It's hitting the LA Times, ABC News and NBC News right now. Will be interesting to see what kind of spin (if any) the McCain mouthpieces try to put on this gaffe.

The campaign should do a bit more research. Walter Reed High School was not named after the army general. It's named after the Broadway/Hollywood actor Walter Reed who played a wagon driver in Seven Men From Now in the 50's. He died in 2001 and his estate donated a large sum of money to the school so they renamed it after him.

And I'm into her, alright, that big tough Alaskan hunter conservative. The way she handles a gun and talks tough, like a real man - er - real man's kinda woman! And that's why real men should vote for her. Real men like us should stick together, and vote for her, marching forward together as men. Marching together, strong and tough and capable men.
