Shane actually died in 1992. It's just that nobody's bothered to tell him.

The Pogues have been reuniting for Christmas shows as well as a few east & west coast US dates for a few years now.

And God bless Shane McGowan.

Christmas tour? In the drunk-tank, I hope.

Had a drink with him in London recently. The man's liver is farking indestructible. Seriously, I've never seen a person so intoxicated still on their feet.

/if you're ever in The Boogaloo in Highgate, don't buy Shane a drink- he'll tell you himself he can afford his own.
//If you see a man by the bar with glasses and a huge beard who answers to 'the rabbi', however, he'll gladly take a Guinness and tell you tales of he and Shane making Noel Gallagher cry like a little girl.

As far as I was aware, they play the Barrowlands in Glasgow nearly every december

They have been playing the US east coast for 3 years running. I've seen them 2 out of 3 years.

Shane drinks, but I dont think he drinks as much as people think. It's just a public image.

He may be ugly, but he's nailing Xtina, so none of us should talk.

Actually if you watch the documentary If I Should Fall from Grace: The Shane MacGowan Story (new window) it is quite evident that he does drink THAT much and that it's not just an image. I saw them play a couple times in the 80's and it was the best show for a crowd ever and the band was amazing...Even drunken Shane.

He makes me sad though, that brilliance is just being rotted...Much like his teeth.

Holy Fark... I might be in the UK around then.

Wonder how much the ticket resellers will have marked up the tix.

Be great to see a show at the Brixton Academy though.

Now to work the boss to get the trip scheduled just right. :-)

Yes but can he chew on a steak anymore.

What liver?

I thought he had a metal tank there, or something

Weigard 2008-09-04 10:46:12 PM
I saw them at the Metro in Chicago in March. They went on an hour late because Shane was at the House of Blues. Not that he forgot where the show was, he forgot he had a show.

There may have been alcohol involved.

Still, it was a great show. I've never seen anyone so tanked be so good at what they do.

It'll be a poignant Pogues Christmas gig without Kirsty MacColl.

/still miss her

Do you think he's gong to wake up on his death bed one day and think: Wait...WTF did my LIFE go?

Nah, I guess he'll be too drunk on his death bed to ever think such a thing.

Who will sing with him, now that Kirsty MacColl is dead?
