Holy shiat. Best concert I ever went to back in my youth. I need to take a trip to DC to see this.

farkin' A.

I'm sure they can still tear it up.

If McCain wins, that place will be an angry riot.

If Obama wins, that place will be a happy riot.

Saw them in 1990 or so? One word: wow.

Oh shiat, I'm old!

I was happy to catch what I heard was the "good show" at CBGBs closing week fiesta. Aside from the black eye, which kind of brought my PMA down a bit, it was lovely and righteous.

Pffft...saw 'em at the Living Room in Providence in the mid-80s.

Get off my beer, sweat, and spit soaked stage made out of plywood and milk crates... : )

Do they still got that PMA?

This is all sorts of good news.

A new album? A tour?

Go out and remind a new generation why you ruled the punk scene back in the day.

I Against I was the last good thing they did, I'll be surprised (albeit pleasantly) if this new album is any good. Still, their self titled/Rior album is a goddamn classic.

FTA: "November 9 in Austin at Waterloo Park"

I can handle that. Anyone up for a show?

Living Room or Club Babyhead? My memories of those days are sorta fuzzy... (I blame Reagan.)

Found the link for the Austin show if anyone wants to check it out. Turns out it's part of a bigger music festival.

http://www.funfunfunfest.com

For $60 they've got a pretty cool lineup (especially stage 3)

Freakin' awesome.

That is all.

I'll go when they get closer, though. New album...HELL YEAH!

Definitely the Living Room (the old one, with the "bubble window"), though I saw some great shows at Baby Head - Meat Puppets, Crimpshrine, All, Neutral Nation, The Freeze to name a few. I'd take the bus every Sunday to Providence to see the Matinee shows, as well.

The bigger bands usually went to the Living Room, though. Ramones, Butthole Surfers, 7 Seconds, Circle Jerks, Agnostic Front, D.O.A., along with Bad Brains were some of my favorite shows.

Nestea Plunge:
That was a hell of a room to pit in, though. At least you never fell down, because everyone was crammed in so tight.

Heh...at the Ramones I had to take a "stealth piss" by the side of the stage, because there was no way in hell I was going to make it back to the spot I was at if I fought my way back to the bathrooms (probably the most disgusting bathrooms I've ever been in, by the way). It was farking jammed.

Of course, now thanks to the Station fire the RI cops and fire dept are a bit more anal about capacity numbers...

I would like to see this. Very much.

But I would have to be in the "old people" seats.

Now we know where the first bigass riot we be after Obama (probably) loses.

Note the ass covering. Thanks.

Uhhhh... didn't they do this last year? "Build a Nation" was released June 26, 2007.

One of my all time favorite bands so I am very excited. On the other hand HR's voice is sho(i)t so it isnt really worth making a new album. I will however be very interested in seeing them if they tour.

I bass line, after the break down, in Big Takeover from The Youth Are Getting Restless album is what put them over the edge into the realm of my favorite bands.

Of course at my age I may have to skip the pit. Nothin' but elbows, walkers and wheel chairs flying around!

Will they do their gay-bashing tunes?

The Bad Brains were awesome... that said, nostalgia is for hippies.

I'll be there at Fun Fun Fun Fest!

If by "original" lineup you mean "classic" lineup (HR, Earl, Doc, Darryl), they've played a fair number of shows in the last 10 years - they released a record, Build A Nation, and played some festivals last year, in fact. I saw them play last in 2003; HR wore a track suit with a bath towel around his waist while carrying a tube of toothpaste in one hand through most of the set. He leapt out into the crowd at the beginning of the show, but he did it so suddenly that no one saw him, and he plopped to the ground. The show actually was quite good. If their album last year is any indication, those guys can still kick it.

CavemanCometh 2008-09-03 09:55:12 PM
They re-united last year and played some gigs. The new album is awesome.(Build a Nation). Unfortunately A.R. is in a coma on stage most of time these days.

There a place in DC called The Club or are they talking about the 9:30 Club?

Lizard 2008-09-03 10:17:41 PM
I was supposed to see them with Clutch last month. They cancelled & got Murphy's Law instead!I saw those farkers open up for the Beastie Boys back in 86.

Yeah, I have it. It's okay...nothing like "Banned in DC", but you can't get better than that album.

SockMonkeyHolocaust 2008-09-04 02:58:44 AM
Hopefully HR can leave the homophobia at home.

Guy Innagorillasuit: Still, their self titled/Rior album is a goddamn classic.

That album pretty much set the bar for everything else. A-freaking-mazing.

I'd make the drive but HR's voice isn't and the dude looks like he died 10 years ago.

David Yow told me that they sent Biscuit a turd in the mail cause of the homo.

I saw them at Tipitina's in like '88.

Does this mean I'm old too?

Damn.
