It sums up our society very well, expressing love for someone/something and immediately dropping it for something new. Idol my ass, 'flavor of the year' is much more fitting.

If anything, Broadway has apparently been using Idol for a training camp, a lot of folks appeared to have made the switch.

Finally, we cannot forget that Idol gave us Ryan Seacrest, therefore it will always be marked down as one of the crappiest shows alive.
