The vast majority of these people won't appear on any ballots. Each state has its own requirements for getting on its ballot (usually requires a sufficient number of signatures to a petition, and perhaps some sort of showing you have sufficient threshold of national support? Not sure about that- third party supporters would know better).

However, by officially running, any write-in vote for them will actually count. So anybody that goes into the booth in November and writes in Hillary's name is actually throwing their vote away, not just figuratively.
