After the last batch of garbage NOLA dumped on us, I wish Governor Perry had built a wall between Texas and Louisiana.

Here's the entire text of the article:
The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) has announced that hurricane evacuees will be unable to enter Alabama on I-10 eastbound due to major delays from the Biloxi-Ocean Springs area to the Mobile Tunnel. Drivers will be diverted north on Mississippi 63 at exit 69.

Here's the headline on Fark:
Alabama governor: No, evacuees can't come into Alabama. Not yours

They don't seem to be the same.

The fact that there's a mandatory evacuation of the low-lying southern parts of Mobile and Baldwin counties might also have something to do with it.

If your solution comes anywhere close to keeping all Texans in Texas (or at least the lower 48) I'll help fund your project.

I have to say, I went for a vacation in Texas a few weeks ago - South Padre island and San Antonio.

Sure, I had some prejudices about how it would be, but I must say all in all I was very pleasantly surprised. I had a really good time. I'd go again if there weren't too many other places left that I haven't visited yet.

Does this offer include keeping californians out of Texas? If so, then let me state on record that I have no desire to relocate to any of the other states in the United States and I would like you to fund our project to introduce a mechanism to prevent unwanted people from relocating to our state.

And I've gotta agree with the original poster - quality of life here in Texas was an order of magnitude better before the NOLA trash invaded our cities. Now we have a new culture that seems to cherish poverty and crime (they aren't trapped - they actually seem to desire the perception of run-down / criminal-infested neighborhoods).

This would be an excellent time for ICE to be checking citizenship status of people, and promptly shipping the illegal invaders back across our southern border.

I was a Katrina evacuee. The people that helped us and were nice to us after the storm...I cut their lawns for free to this day. Weekly.

If they don't want evacuees from Southeastern Louisiana, they are missing out.

/Made the right move building a home in FL. and not moving back home to the Greater New Orleans Metro area.

//Helping family members cope with evacuation and potential loss of property and displacement.

///Opened my home to my ENTIRE family for indefinite stay if necessary.

////If Red Cross or FEMA shelter opens in the area, going to help and take families back to my house for a nice big BBQ.

//Subby is a wiener, not a winner.

Sure, the crime rate went up in Houston after New Orlean's Finest were transplanted here. But it was a shiathole even before Katrina...which is why I love how every Texan blames it on that.

I think it's funny that the mayor of New Orleans in his recent press conference said, "If you're caught looting, you're goin right to Angolia. General Population. God have have mercy on your soul."

Gustav to the west, Hannah to the East. Looks like the weather is going to be real interesting from Texas east to NC next week. May drive the Beast in lieu of my Maxima. Sure to be many, many wrecks from the influx of refugees and normal idiots that don't slow down in the rain!

Actually, CBP. Which brings up a question I meant to ask. There's a checkpoint, driving up from Brownsville towards San Antonio. In Sarita. They do immigrations check there.

Did they keep on checking everybody, when they were evacuating South Padre, and other nearby places, a few weeks ago?

I'm from California and currently live in Florida. Near as I can tell, Southern Hospitality is a myth. The most hospitable people I've ever met were Mexican immigrants. No kidding.

Tack on the fact that 10 basically follows the coast and it would be a crappy place to get caught. And this kinda makes sense.

/Man, going east on I-10 through Mississippi would be retarded.

1. Deny people any way out of the state.
2. Deride people for staying in the state.
3. Complain that they were too stupid to leave, thus leaving them undeserving of any help.

You sound like the exception to the general rule of evacuee's

Realize there are still people trying to milk the system of Katrina.

There where a lot of folks who either left or where evacuated (Eventually) that are good people. You sound like your in this group.

but there is no denying that a heck of a lot of waste's-of-human-flesh were also in NOLA and evacuated and caused a lot of problems where they went. These are the people whom every one should hate. As they cause trouble for those who need and deserve help and those who can provide it.

In the end, keep your population trimmed of the waste's-of-human-flesh and you will have no issue.

Texas does this for the most part with its 100% correct property rights laws....ie you trespass and the land owner can shoot you.

Oh and there is nothing wrong with Texas. In fact it is a really great place. Much better than LA or LA, CA for that matter.

The raging liberal thugs from New Orleans ravished everyplace kind enough to look after them last time.

Forcing people to become completely dependent upon you for ensured votes=fail in the long run. The Democrats have turned an entire populace of New Orleans into kids.

Mad Scientist 2008-08-31 12:24:27 PM
A friend is evac-ing from New Orleans and headed to my place near Birmingham. He went through the Mobile tunnel about an hour ago and said it was really jammed up. Four lanes down to two at the tunnel, with heavy traffic flow is making a real mess.

Nemo's Brother 2008-08-31 12:24:31 PM
I think we should move all the evacuees to NYC, San Francisco and Massachusetts.

"I would like you to fund our project to introduce a mechanism to prevent unwanted people from relocating to our state."

We tried that once, called it Secession from the Union in order to self govern. Followed a few other states that were trying to do the same thing. Didn't go over very well.

/and cue the history nazi's who will cry that the war was just about slavery and nothing else.

There's a difference between being compassionate and being a doormat for other people's bad behavior and general shiftlessness. That said, I wouldn't expect the political class that promises to give my tax dollars to rebuild the armpit of the United States to know the difference.

1. Ride by the BJCC. There's only a few thousand evacucees already "living" there.
