I think everyone by now is well aware of Obama's penchant for throwing his friends under the wheels of the bus.

Isn't the "It's not my fault" mentality one of those things we here on Fark abhore and mock?

/It's said that the road to office was littered with the bodies of Sarah Palins opponents, looks like the road to office is littered with the friends and allies of Obama :P

It's ridiculous. When Obama says "(Insert controversial person) doesn't speak for me, he's wrong", he's accused of throwing people under the bus for politics.

When he says "I may not agree with this person, but they're still my friend" (like he did with Ayers), he's accused of being an evil terrorist-lover.

Fact of the matter is, most of the people accusing Obama of either wouldn't vote for him anyways, and are just concern trolling.

Since when did being popular and having a huge devoted following become a bad thing?

you people do realize that when you make those remarks that it only makes you appear jealous. and petty.
Do you really think people believe you wouldn't love to have such a charismatic and inspirational leader?

psst. hey GOP..being popular and getting the most votes is what a successful campaign is supposed to do.

Those people will never be happy with anything Obama says, even if it was 100% true. They will always take the opposite stance because Obama sides with it the other way. If he said that the sky is blue, they will deny it so they can continue to be anti-Obama. Sounds really cultist-like to me.

Judging from the responses against Obama on Fark, where people use 'reasons' like he's elitist, Muslim, popular, young, not Republican to not vote for him and how they have shown to be completely and blatantly hypocritical every step of the way, I would have to say that you hit the nail on the head with that one.

Which is evidence that it is a poor pick. Conservative men love her. Independent women are going to loathe her.

You need to understand who the battleground state undecided voters are. They are independent. They are women. They live in the suburbs.

If you think that picking a hot woman for window dressing is going to sway those women, you are smoking something that you should pass my way.

ldsrapha 2008-08-31 11:34:06 AM
I have to honestly say that I admire a leader that is not afraid to correct situations and control the staff message. It is much better than when a staff takes over, as in the case of McCain, and show what complete incompetence is at the helm of the campaign.

As far as those energized by Sarah Palin, I only have this to say . . . .LOL!!!! Give me a break!! Anyone that can seriously picture her staring down Putin and working out a peace treaty are probably already voting for John McCain. It is NO loss to Obama.

Honestly, I'd just like to hear an answer to that question. People seem to be excited about her biography. The press and the GOP are milking that as much as possible, and doing very little to talk about what exactly she'd do as VP. Frankly, they're minimizing expectations and suggesting that she wouldn't
do much except get "trained" by John McCain.

Palin is certainly the anti-Hillary, not simply because of her opposing views, but in approach as well. Hillary was an outstanding candidate because she was incredibly smart and able to master nearly any policy issue. She was famous for being able to shake hands and do small talk one minute, then be able to segue into an in-depth discussion on arms control or health care or economics.

Palin is a generic process candidate. She offers minimal opinion on issues but suggests that she'll rock the boat. That just doesn't do it for me. The last eight years revealed that the Vice President is incredibly important. Picking someone who didn't have any opinion whatsoever about the Iraq war doesn't bode well.

He calls out his staffers who don't toe the line. I don't see a problem with that at all. If he suddenly shifted position to cover for a staffer--that's a big problem. It doesn't make sense for him to take blame for something he didn't and wouldn't do. I don't agree with all of Obama's positions, but I think the way he conducts himself is admirable.

this is honesty in politics.

Spanky_McFarksalot 2008-08-31 11:43:43 AM
It's a common strategy.

First you have one of your staff issue a scathing ridicule of your opponents pick, which gets a large amount of press. Then you come out and take the high road.

You look like a decent guy while the negative stuff stays in the back of peoples minds.

Genius.

This doesn't surprise me a bit.

The worst Obama can be accused of is having an overzealous staff that is occasionally incompetent.

Yes, as a leader the blame rests on him, and I believe he takes responsibility for it; he needs to hire better people and make sure they stick to the message and do no harm. But anyone that freaks out after reading this has obviously never been put in a serious position of leadership before.
