I bet it will be better than having him show up, salute and say "reporting for duty".

It's not often that an internet meme becomes the truth of the matter: John McCain is basing his candidacy on being a prisoner of war.

Hey, Republicans: POW!

/Not affiliated with either party

knbber2: I bet it will be better than having him show up, salute and say "reporting for duty".

True, especially since the last guy they nominated for the job didn't say that either.

Yes, Kerry said exactly that:

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, so much. Thank you. Thank you, so much. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

I'm John Kerry and I'm reporting for duty.

Thank you.

We are here -- thank you -- We are here tonight -- We are here tonight because we love our country.

We're proud of what America is and what it can become.

John Kerry is not the last guy the Democratic Party has nominated for President of the United States.

Haha, awesome. This convention will look like a kindergarten graduation compared to the DNC.

Nice job subby, you let the cat out of the bag early. Now everyone here on Fark will know McCain was a POW. Way to steal their thunder.

Hey, a 4-year reversal on "what matters" has NOTHING on Republicans' about face on experience this time around...more like 4 seconds.

I'm sure they'll forget to mention that McCain has the experience of crashing five planes, killing 134 fellow shipmates, and getting special treatment at a prison camp.

What's the difference between John Kerry and John McCains military experience? John Kerry never surrendered.

If, in the middle of it, McCain screams, the Rambo theme comes on and he kicks everyone's ass and flees, I will vote for him.

Hey subtard, you do realize that both parties prominently feature their nominee's biography, don't you? I guess they should just skip those 5 1/2 years.

They might as well, since they have nothing do do with being the President.

IoSaturnalia 2008-08-30 08:34:39 PM
He crashed four planes and had the fifth shot out from under him. They're probably still docking his paycheck, which is why he needs to increase his paygrade.

But McCain is presenting those 5 1/2 years as THE primary reason he should be President. It's not like he can run on his experience anymore, since Palin is just as qualified as he is, apparently.

Wasn't that long ago that a certain big-city mayor was being mercilessly mocked for seemingly obsessing on a single date -- which probably helped explain why that mayor's campaign didn't fare too well.

The title makes me LOL: GOP convention to highlight McCain's POW story

I am unclear when they haven't highlighted McCains POW story.

I can't tell you that much more about him. Every chance I get to hear him tell his side of the story/issue he jumps off the cliff into POWland.

Mordant: John Kerry is not the last guy the Democratic Party has nominated for President of the United States.

Actually, I take that back. Apparently 18 months as Governor gives you "executive experience that trumps Biden's 35 years in the Senate, which itself exceeds McCains 27 years.

So Palin is actually MORE qualified than McCain. The POW thing is about all he has going for him.

Does anyone know if McCain has ever been evaluated/treated or if he's currently receiving treatment for any psychological traumas as a result of being a tortured as a POW?

I mean, stuff like that is pretty important for the public to know.

Dr.Zom 2008-08-30 08:50:50 PM
I've said it before and I'll say it again - the McCain campaign has been run with less expertise than the average high school production of Hair.

If they get through the convention without a colossal blunder it will be a miracle.

I agree. While his sacrifice and hardship is acknowledged, it begs the question- Has he dealt with it and healed enough to be mentally prepared to hold office?
Important question.

My dear, sweet Hypocrisy, how subtle is your kiss.

Would this be flip-flopping or just out and out hypocrisy?

I am confused.

Talk about the pot calling the kettlen Blac... er, sooty.
