Did we really need more proof that Michael Moore is a sub-human form of life?

There will be no hurricanes when President Obama is in office.

Here's a news flash: documentary makers, news reporters, and videographers secretly pray for catastrophe, suffering, and human misery all the time, because that's what gets them award-winning material.

FTA: Olbermann said "one of" Focus on the Family preachers connected to Chairman Dr. James Dobson's was allegedly calling for everyone to pray for rain during Sen. Barack Obama's Democratic convention speech.

It's not alleged it's Dobsons communications director and the video is on YouTube. They were point out the irony that it's going to rain on the Republican parade, instead. Kind of funny huh?

Almost as funny as "Michael Moore is fat... hur hur hur."

Hmm, so Minneapolis-St Paul are near the Gulf of Mexico? I must not know geography very well. And as for your "Michael Moore is a fat..." comment, didn't Al Franken (your senatorial candidate) once write a book with a title referring to Rush Limbaugh's weight and lack of intelligence?

burndtdan 2008-08-30 11:33:06 AM
ahh, see, people who actually saw the segment know that he not very long afterward said he hoped everyone got out of danger and no one was hurt.

but that would require watching an entire like 4 minutes of something, and that's just too long!

burndtdan 2008-08-30 11:37:30 AM
matter of fact, to quote:

Proof of a God? Not so much.

Highly ironic? Yes.

MM is a duchebag, no doubt about it. I know it was only a joke, but making it lowers the level of debate, costs him credibility (his is about as good as bush's) and provides talking point fodder for the right.

I'm hoping for another hurricane to prove how stupid the denizens of New Orleans are. At least the government is telling them they are on their own this time.

I believe in the right to be stupid. I also firmly believe in the punishment you receive for being so.

How about fires and earthquakes in California? A volcanic eruption in the Philippines? Floods in the northern Mississippi valley?

I'm so glad that I'm not going to be anywhere near the RNC Convention this year. The overwhelming smell of wet hippie protesters is going to premate that poor city. It'll probably still be in the air for a week after the convention is over.

The right wing won't repeat anything other than he hopes there is a hurricane. They will probably say that he hopes people die. (I'd bet money Limbaugh will say it, at least a dozen times and use it to prove he's right about three or four other nutbag comments)

So yeah, he will lose credibility, and the level of debate will be lowered.

Perception is more important than reality. Just ask Karl Rove.

he will lose credibility with people who listen to rush limbaugh. which is moot, because he has no credibility with them in the first place.

Agreed, but the problem is that there are tens of thousands of people who will believe it, and they will talk without mentioning the source. Some of those will believe it, and so on.

I just think it's a mistake to make this kind of joke in public when the spotlight is on you, especially if you are trying to forward an agenda. Micheal Moore is right about a lot of things, but his style hurts the message.

Dirtball 2008-08-30 12:37:08 PM
Michael Moore is as one-sided and awful as the people he rallies against. He is an attention whore most high and anyone who is as far one sided in his/her views in either direction is someone not to be listened to.

i don't foresee it having that type of legs. this is michael moore we're talking about. even if a rush listener ran to their neighbor and said "you won't believe what michael moore said!", i would suspect the neighbor to calmly inform that they don't give a shiat.

I lost alot of respect for Olbermann after that interview.

They were praying for weather to ruin Obama's convention. Now weather may REALLY fark up theirs indirectly. Yeah, it's kind of funny.

I get it, It is ok to say that G-d would spite the republicans with another hurricane in New Orleans

But it was wrong to suggest that the last one was to spite all of the sodomites that live there.

He needs to make more fictional comedies and not documentaries. Bowling For Columbine was excellent, but he's never been that good since. Canadian Bacon was really funny, and I want more damnit!

It was an obvious gaffe, and he immediately realized it and tried to retract it. But he did say it, which was incredibly idiotic. And yes, I was watching the show.
Funny thing, if someone like Coulter said something like this (or, enter any Republican hack comparable to Moore), some people would probably care more. I remember the uproar on Fark when Bush made his 'where are the WMDs hiding?' joke a few years ago, and what Moore said was arguably more tasteless.
"Oh, but but but, he called take backsies!!!" Because that one always seems to fly with Farkers when the shoe is on the other foot.

Also, Moore is a douchebag movie producer/director (he does not make documentaries), so he's got that going for him.

We're mainly atheists mocking the effectiveness of their prayers. We don't (or at least I don't) literally believe God is punishing people. Falwell/Roberts did.

To be fair, it was a crappy segment anyways. Moore's really gone over to the Coulter/Malkin side of the moon, but for lefties.

I can't stand Moore, but this headline is hardly fair.

And so to complement my John McCain headline graphic, I bring you this:

Hmmm. This is supposed to happen around the anniversary of Katrina, right? And IIRC, that was right before some big decadent gay party, right? And most of the poor people from the 9th ward who had to evacuate have not returned, right?

So maybe Fred Phelps has it right; God does hate fags.

/Just sayin'

So If Gustav hits New Orleans Michael Moore will see that as proof that God exists?

I wonder if he'll put his own baptism in his next documentary.
