Yup. Liberals only fear Palin because 51% of this country is functionally retarded. It's just by the grace of God that republicans can actually dress themselves. I don't even want to think about how they go to the bathroom.

Somehow, I think squirrels and sticks are involved. And LOTS and LOTS of prayer.

I'm not afraid of her. I'm not afraid of anyone -- fear and cowardice is a Republican delicacy. No, I pity her and dimwits that will vote for McBush.

Come November we will get what we deserve, one way or another.

You guys rock. Glad to see I'm not the only one who sees what a lame pandering gimmick picking this 3rd rate eyeglass model was. Before hearing Obama the other night I was planning on voting against McCain. Now I'm voting FOR Obama. I'm pretty cynical but I actually had a little glimpse of hope for the US as I found myself thinking "hell yea" to most of what he said. Damn I hope people don't fall for the BS this time.

I just had this identical conversation with a friend, last night, over beers. I was planning on voting against McCain, anyway, but Obama's speech (taken at face value, admittedly) gave me something to vote for. I actually feel a little weird about it.

/I really liked the JFK-esque proposal for energy-independence

Obama is a duh king, an empty suit and will fold under pressure when attacked.

Remember the first thing he told us? Don't make fun of my ears? WTF was that? Now that he is being rung through because of his BFF Bill Ayers, what does he do? Brings the federal government down on stations airing the ads? Has this guy ever heard of the 1st amendment? I thought he was a constitutional lawyer.

Apparently, he gets violent when you tell the truth about him.

Combined with the numerous gaffes like 57 states, Iran is not a threat because it is a tiny country, I am in Kansas City, St. Louis, no, Kansas City, he is exposing himself as a mental midget.

McCain, on the other hand, isn't your daddies republican. He is a party animal, womanizing maverick. I wasn't going to vote for him, but now I will. He is the only candidate with a brain. Can't be Biden, he has to plagiarize everything.

Palin is experienced enough - as much as Ears is. Well, he did give a speech in Berlin, the summary of his foreign experience.

SouthernManDunWrong: Obama...

There aren't words to express you stupidity. Further I apologize for not expounding on this matter. I know that it's proper form to back up a declaration of your stupidity with specifics but I would be here all day. I just hope lightning strikes all of the people of your lower intelligence on November 3rd so you all have to stay home the next day.

Jesus Christ, save us form our own idiots. Yesdog hit the nail squarely on the head. We'll get what we deserve one way or 'tother.

The key to good trolling is subtlety, if you go to far to fast, then it becomes obvious. Second, don't use all your material in a single post, work it over several, this adds to the "I really believe this" factor.

You have much work to do.

If you force those people to accept change they will just sit and stew for 4 years building resentment that their precious team didn't win. They will have learned nothing (much like the rest of their lives), and will just be waiting for the opportunity to get even.

I really believe that you teach a stubborn child not to play with the stove by letting him do it.

Seriously, you go constantly from city to city and not get confused about where you are.

Obama's got his flaws, but you can't attack him on his knowledge of geography and then support McCain who had a much worse gaffe regarding the Middle East.

so you're going to vote mccain to teach the republicans a lesson? really?

Megain: so you're going to vote mccain to teach the republicans a lesson? really?

not quite that simple. Frankly, I just don't think anyone can clean up the mess we're in right now and setting Obama up to be the scapegoat is a bad move. Look beyond the southern joke at someone who really believes what they say, someone like DiA. They will use any failure whatsoever to prove that no democrat should ever be elected again for the rest of time in America. So why feed them that opportunity ? Obama may be good in many ways, but he's not going to be as good as he'd need to be.

while i agree that it will take a long time to clean up the mess, i hardly see how actively contributing to it helps anyone in any way. how long are you willing to contribute to making the problem worse before you decide someone maybe ought to do something a little differently? let's say mccain wins this one and the country continues down the same path we're on... are you going to vote republican again in 2012 just to keep proving the point as matters get worse? your 'i want to spite them' attitude will continue to spite us all, and you seem to revel in it. i find that odd

At some point the damage is irreparable. You let the kid touch a hot stove, but you don't let him get third degree burns and need a skin graft.

We don't need a war in Iran.
We don't need to lose internet freedom.
We don't need a pair in the White House obsessed with obliterating abortion once and for all.

Intelligence and experience are factors that mean NOTHING to the typical American voter.

She's eye candy and window dressing. She'll look good on the TV and distracts the voters from real, substantial issues.

The GOP knows this all too well.

Mordant [TotalFark] 2008-08-30 12:04:25 PM
We need a Democrat who is at least twice as good as Obama is. Squabbling back and forth all these years has gotten us where we are today, something has to change no matter how badly it hurts. Sorry.

Pretty face, not much of a record, long on rhetoric, short on substance. She's different from Obama HOW exactly?

Democrats are in a froth because McCain is playing their game now. They no longer have the market cornered on "identity politics" and they aren't sure how to respond. Things are going to get interesting...

Mordant [TotalFark] 2008-08-30 12:27:04 PM
a Democrat who doesn't change anything will cost us at least 8 years of literally anything that gets put up as competition in 2012. Then things are back where they are now.

Look at the 2006 election results... it was a loss. Flat out, complete loss.

As far as independents are concerned, a Republican could rape their mothers, kill their dog, and burn their homes to the ground and it's still better than having a Dem in office. That has to be broken. By force. As unbelievably bad as they are though, there have to be a few smart enough to want to cut their losses at some point. Hell, around here even Weaver stopped cheering for Bush at some point.

bulldg4life [TotalFark] 2008-08-30 12:28:57 PM
I'm just amazed at how far right this country has shifted over the past 25 years.

I mean, two steps to the right of Kublai Khan is considered radical leftist these days.

PoopStain: I was going to read that diatribe but I realized that a woman was writing it. Her theory can be boiled down to five words:

Votes are base on emotion.

That's only true for women and retards. If the Republicans get enough of them, then they will win the election.

My vote is still on Obama even though my taxes are going to go through the roof. I'm one of those above $300,000 households. I will pay, but at least I'll be responsible for the reason.

And fark you people who criticized Bush voters for voting with their wallet. I didn't make my money these past 8 years because of the Democrats. Now that I have enough of it, I'm willing to give back.

Congratulations on an explosive boost to your income in just 8 years, Do you still have the box you were living in before this stellar rise to wealth ?

Headline says it all. As a candidate, Palin is a joke. However, I've underestimated the stupidity of the American voter before, and I won't make that mistake again. She terrifies me, because I can realistically see men voting for her because she's attractive and women voting for her because they have the same genitalia.

It doesn't matter that she is completely opposed to women's rights, gay rights, and science. She has a vagina, and if there is one thing we know about America, it's that we LOVE vagina.

hey she shows great judgment.

here she was 8 months pregnant with a down syndrome baby who is a very high risk for birth complications and she goes into labor prematurely, her water breaks, she starts having contractions and what does she do?
She finishes up the conferences she's at and jumps on a plane for a 9 hour trip to Alaska and drives to her hometown to have the baby in a hospital that doesn't even have an NICU.

Ya know, I really think McCain should've gone with Huckabee. He's has actual executive experience as Gov of Arkansas for ten years, from the South, younger than McCain (but not too young!), has some national exposure but "not an insider", family man, Baptist minister, etc. I would be scared if he picked him. Or even Romney (though the Mormon thing might scare off fundie voters).

But he picked this bimbo instead and all I can do is laugh at how fool-hardy it is. I do have to wonder how the "no women can rule over men!" fundamentalists are handling it.

Because the last thing we need is someone to raise taxes, raise spending, and put more restrictions on energy production?

Oh yeah, let's also hope that Obama's bit about creating a domestic security agency the size and scope of the US military is more bunkum.
