Karl Rove from "Face The Nation" a few weeks ago:

I think he's going to make an intensely political choice, not a governing choice," Rove said. "He's going to view this through the prism of a candidate, not through the prism of president; that is to say, he's going to pick somebody that he thinks will on the margin help him in a state like Indiana or Missouri or Virginia. He's not going to be thinking big and broad about the responsibilities of president.

With all due respect again to Governor Kaine, he's been a governor for three years

I don't think people could really name a big, important thing that he's done. He was mayor of the 105th largest city in America.

So if he were to pick Governor Kaine, it would be an intensely political choice where he said, `You know what? I'm really not, first and foremost, concerned with, is this person capable of being president of the United States? What I'm concerned about is, can he bring me the electoral votes of the state of Virginia, the 13 electoral votes in Virginia?'

And...Palin? hahahahaha!

I tried to buy some McCain/Palin stickers earlier, the server timed out twice and I got errors two other times.

I have used it before to donate, so I do have some experience with the site and can offer my opinion that it is indeed experiencing quite heavy usage.

I just gave $250 to Obama today. I've donated to him before, but always in much smaller amounts, lol. I just got my mileage check from work today and looked at it, thought about how I felt after listening to him last night, and said, "Yep."

I agree it will be interesting to see the numbers, but I really think that the bump McCain will see in donations won't be as high as we might think. Yes, it is a very exciting announcement and many, many people will seriously think about supporting McCain because of it; however, what I don't see happening is a PUMA looking at her mileage check and deciding she's going to give it to McCain. He just doesn't seem to draw/inspire/promote that type of giving.

Of course, I'm an Obama supporter, so my opinions are probably completely wrong:)

Ah, well, see...I was completely wrong. Oh well, lol.
/and also, re-reading my post, I realized it sounded like only PUMAs would be happy about the VP choice, when obviously, that is not true.

Gotta love the Right. Spend months on end shouting down Obama's supposed lack of experience, but flock to donate when a woman who has less than two years of legitimate political experience (and being mayor of a town of 5,000 doesn't count) gets the nod.

Truly, their hypocrisy knows about as many boundaries as their self-serving agenda of corruption.

Palin is running for vice-president, a traditional OJT position.
Obama is running for president and has no executive experience - he never ran a company, he never was a mayor, he never was a governor.

I hope I have cleared that up for you.

feckingmorons: Palin is running for vice-president, a traditional OJT position.

Sure. But McCain is 71 and has had cancer four times. Suffice it to say that him picking her (given the very real possibility that he may not live through a full term) is shockingly irresponsible. We HAVE a Vice-President in order to have a backup for the ACTUAL president. so, it's sort of important that that person be up to the task of performing the duties of the job should the need arise.

Hope I've cleared THAT up for YOU.

feckingmorons: Obama is running for president and has no executive experience - he never ran a company, he never was a mayor, he never was a governor.

Maybe not. Guess he was too busy graduating from Harvard Law School, practicing as a civil attorney and teaching constitutional law for 12 years, and then spending eight years in the Illinois Legislature before spending 4 years in the US Senate. What was Palin doing during the same formative years of HER career? She was mayor of a town of 5,000 people after getting a Journalism degree at the University of Idaho. Then she came in second in a race for lieutenant governor. Before which she came in second in a beauty pageant.

Wow. THAT inspires confidence. Hope she likes coming in second, because it's about to happen again.

Still, it's fun to watch all of you righty jagoffs who have spent months heaping no end of derision on Obama for his lack of background try to spin less than two years as governor (and a few more as mayor of a town with 40,000 fewer people in it than attended Obama's acceptance speech) into relevant enough experience to potentially be president.

Thanks for playing, though.

Pardon my ignorance, but don't Repub supporters have until the convention ends in order to donate? After that, what becomes of the money? My understanding is that McCain must spend all the money by convention's end and then take only public money. So, aren't these people donating to a campaign that has just a week's window in which to spend it?

A little boy with an extra chromosome was born on April 18. His name is Trig Paxson Van Palin and his new home is the Alaska Governor's Mansion in Juneau. His mom is Governor Sarah Palin, who along with her husband Todd, has welcomed Trig as their second son and fifth child.

I don't know about the rest of you, but after 8 years of Bushiathink we shouldn't have anymore retards in the White House.
