They should join with Jindal to form some sort of avenging trio.

"The Mormon, the Mullet, and the Indian Exorcist...in...

TICKET TO JUSTICE

In a world, where dastardly Alaskans hog up all the VP slots, three misfits will journey to the forbidding deserts of Ari-Zona to reclaim their rightful place as heirs to the Kingdom of the Mummy Lord.

This fall, the true running mate...is JUSTICE."

Obdicut [TotalFark] 2008-08-29 06:42:47 PM
Huh. Maybe I'm wrong.

I figured they'd just refused, to stay out of the damage.

silvervial 2008-08-29 06:42:59 PM
So, will we see the MSM (which is not liberal, sorry to say, I would have noticed) flog this story to itsy tiny pieces the way they did the Hillary non-pick?

I bet not.

Confabulat [TotalFark] 2008-08-29 06:45:37 PM
I gotta say, I thought McCain's pick was interesting for a few hours, but after just a little bit of coverage, she seems like an epic disaster for the ages.

Then again, Dan Quayle *DID* eventually become VP so it's not a done deal. But ouch. McCain is insane.

That is what I am thinking as well. A short term bounce, then as people get to know her record more, a decline. Jack Cafferty on CNN just acted like this selection was a personal affront to him, it was unreal.

slobarnuts 2008-08-29 06:57:58 PM
This definitely didn't go down as McCain expected to.

He announces his VP, 30 seconds later the media goes:

"Palin? LOLWUT? Oh yea, she's been the governor for like 2 years and she's being investigated for corruption."

silvervial 2008-08-29 07:00:50 PM
Speaking of Quayle, I remember in '92 seeing an editorial cartoon come out around the time people were really questioning if Bush I would dump Quayle and choose someone a little more appropriate to run with for a second term. It showed a wide-eyed, infant-like Quayle waving a lollypop and wearing a propeller hat being borne piggy-back by a long-suffering GHWB. The caption said: "No, I'll be carrying him to term."

I wonder how they'd draw Palin riding McCain...?

Seth_The_Wide [TotalFark] 2008-08-29 07:03:46 PM

I must express my sheer JOY at watching David Gerghin and Jack McCaffrey on CNN burbling and gurgling over how INSULTING it is that this WOMAN GOVERNOR dares to run on a national ticket.

Suck it, goddamn know-it-all journalists.

Hey, KOS: there's this thing. It's called the WHaaaaaaaaaaambulance. We've called it. It's coming for you. Any minute now. As soon as Obama's government mandated regulations on emergency services allow it to. Which should be real soon now. Any time. between now and 2012.

Yeah, the conservative media is not going to pick this up. They will do everything in their power to ignore any discontent in the Republican party.

LOL! Lib media are so farking scared of Palin they're doing everything they can to bring her down but they can't because they know she's a woman of principle, who practices what she preaches and she's not (and I'm using Barry's own words here) "just speeches".

She has traceable voting and policy records. What does Barry have other than "present"?

Neither Romney nor Pawlenty nor Ridge or really any of those guys have an argument to make. Hillary Clinton barely lost the fiercest primary in memory, then didn't even get consideration for the #2 spot.

Romney's ire won't be reported on because it is a non story.

P.S. the imbeciles who think the media is conservative need to read some of the academic studies on media bias. They have consistently shown both a coverage and tone bias in favor of democrats. Even Newscorp owned entities tend to skew just left of equal tone and coverage.

I think they were ready to name Pawlenty, who according to his aides had cleared out his schedule for this weekend. I really think this was a last minute, knee jerk decision in response to the DNC. As Chuck Todd stated ... the McCain response to Obama's speech last night seemed like they had the wind knocked out of them. I think they had were ready to pound Obama on giving a rhetorical, non-issue driven speech. I think they were expecting the Clintons to only begrudgeonly support Obama, with plenty of backhanded complements and a divided floor. Nothing went as planned, and now they're grasping.

McCain has never been known as a measured, pragmatist. This is a typical McCain, knee jerk hail mary.

Please enlighten us to her "voting and policy" record? Since she has never been part of congress, and a governor for 1 year.

Big risk, big reward.

I really think it's a good choice from an electoral standpoint -- she'll help in Colorado, Ohio and Nevada, and if McCain wins all those he probably wins.

There is a risk that she commits a major gaffe and costs McCain any chance of winning, but what McCain needs to win is to get out the base that came out for Bush, not the Hillary voters, and Palin will help get out the base.

Well written analysis.

A ragtag group of fools calling itself "PUMA" was the best you could unearth to justify pumping oxygen into that same story every day, and it turns out that their numbers were so pathetically low that they could meet in one restaurant in Denver.

And yet I see PUMA talking heads getting airtime as if they matter.

I for one think Palin is a great choice - for the Obama campaign. If they'd picked Ridge it would have been a problem.

McCain has never been known as a measured, pragmatist. This is a typical McCain, knee jerk hail mary.

Bingo.
