I think McCain is going to win. Going into this election, the two big pre-concieved of the electorate are that Republicans are evil and Democrats are useless. So in other words, they haven't heard that she toes the GOP line in re: abortion and gay rights as well as coddling of oil companies?

If they are generally left of center on these three issues, then 8 out of every 10 of those women will vote Obama in November.

The race is tied up if you consider only the electoral college.
Pennsylvania and Ohio could go either way.
I give Florida to McCain to begin with.

Keep in mind most of Obama victories in the primaries came from states that will go red in the election. In other words Obama's primary win overstates his strength, which is why Hill and Bill are so upset. They realize that Obama won by taking states which will go republican in election and thus his nomination is essentially lacking in base.

Obama would have lost big time in the primaries if they had a winner take all rule like republicans.

I live in Pennsylvania and talk to people regularly who will not vote for a black man. Biden was picked to help him with catholics (working, hard working, white Americans...), but I doubt if he will be effective as he lacks charisma.

I believe McCain has done himself a HUGE favor by making a dive for the women voters, all other doors are closed to him. This was his only chance and he played it really great.

Ummm...where were all these crossover women in 1984, when Mondale/Ferraro (you know, the very first woman nominated for VP) suffered an utter blowout?

This idea that women will vote against their interests just for the sake of voting for a woman is ludicrous.

What votes the Dems got in 1984 were from women. Reagan had nearly an 80% approval rating, Mondale/Ferraro were never in the race. It was the biggest landslide in history.

Wow. They predicted the outcome of the 2004 election. I did that by counting the results of the 2000 census and congressional reapportionment as blue states lost seven seats as populations shifted to red states which picked up those seven seats. I was off by only one elector.

I think Palin offers more change than Obama. Obama was part of the corrupt Chicago machine, complete with launching his campaign at William Ayers' place. Palin went after the corrupt Big Oil Republicans in Alaska.
