Frankly, Obama will win if he wins Colorado or Virginia. That's what'll it come down to.

Ohio and Florida will be second-tier swing states this election.

Agreed. He will win all of the Kerry states for certain. I think he will add Colorado. Shrewd move having the DNC there, if indeed it has some effect.

if you have 40k volunteers signed up to volunteer to gotv it helps too. I don't expect them all to show up but every little bit helps.
Obama's ground game seems to be pretty solid. even here I Ga I get invited to meetings every weekend sometimes more than that with organizers.

The McCain camp did strike gold today.

I think now we are actually going to have a good race. Like it or not when all is said and done, at least 10% of women that were leaning toward Obama will vote for Palin, just because she is a woman. That's about 6% points and makes this a dead heat.

No, it doesn't make you a racist. It does make you look kinda like, well, kinda like what you've made yourself look like with all your previous posts.

Besides, if Palin becomes VP and McCain dies unexpectedly, Donald Sutherland will get all resentful.

How bout anecdotal. When I got back to work returning from lunch today, I saw an amazing site. Nearly all the women at my company(about 35) were all piled into the breakroom. They had just finished listening to Palin's speech this morning. Remember that most of these are working mothers. They were just giddy, they couldn't care less what the polotics were, they were just glad a women was on a ticket.

Xythero 2008-08-29 09:01:57 PM
I think McCain is going to win. Going into this election, the two big pre-concieved of the electorate are that Republicans are evil and Democrats are useless. I think Obama's supposed flip-flops are going to kill him, while McCain will be more succesful portraying himself as bad, but maverick Han Solo bad.

this was the most pathetic attempt thus far to convince impressionable ignorant voters that Obama is going to win. does anyone take this crap seriously? i mean wow two senators reach presidential electability of zero which means they win! OMG! Obama is by no way equal to Biden in terms of experience, therefore there is no way they can "cancel each other out." Palin is an amazing pick and she has twice as much experience as Obama has, so this whole this is complete shait. But nice try libs...see you in 2012

There you go, Obama camp is most likely worried out of their mind but have to play the game to neutralize Palin thing. Pennsylvania and Ohio are for McCain now, imho.

So in other words, they haven't heard that she toes the GOP line in re: abortion and gay rights as well as coddling of oil companies?

If they are generally left of center on these three issues, then 8 out of every 10 of those women will vote Obama in November.

Two months is a long time in the political reality of the electorate.

The race is tied up if you consider only the electoral college.
Pennsylvania and Ohio could go either way.
I give Florida to McCain to begin with.

Keep in mind most of Obama victories in the primaries came from states that will go red in the election. In other words Obama's primary win overstates his strength, which is why Hill and Bill are so upset. They realize that Obama won by taking states which will go republican in election and thus his nomination is essentially lacking in base.

Obama would have lost big time in the primaries if they had a winner take all rule like republicans.

I live in Pennsylvania and talk to people regularly who will not vote for a black man. Biden was picked to help him with catholics (working, hard working, white Americans...), but I doubt if he will be effective as he lacks charisma.

I believe McCain has done himself a HUGE favor by making a dive for the women voters, all other doors are closed to him. This was his only chance and he played it really great.

Ummm...where were all these crossover women in 1984, when Mondale/Ferraro (you know, the very first woman nominated for VP) suffered an utter blowout?

This idea that women will vote against their interests just for the sake of voting for a woman is ludicrous.

pxsteel 2008-08-29 11:07:15 PM
"where were all these crossover women in 1984"

What votes the Dems got in 1984 were from women. Reagan had nearly an 80% approval rating, Mondale/Ferraro were never in the race. It was the biggest landslide in history.

Pxsteel is a registered independant in the great state of AZ that hates McCain with a passion and thinks Obama is a lofty blowhard.

Wow. They predicted the outcome of the 2004 election. I did that by counting the results of the 2000 census and congressional reapportionment as blue states lost seven seats as populations shifted to red states which picked up those seven seats. I was off by only one elector.

Nemo's Brother 2008-08-30 10:23:34 AM
I think Palin offers more change than Obama. Obama was part of the corrupt Chicago machine, complete with launching his campaign at William Ayers' place. Palin went after the corrupt Big Oil Republicans in Alaska.
