Willie Dixon wrote a song about Robert Plant's dick?

I like how they conveniently didn't get to the part about giving her every inch of his love and how he wants to be her backdoor man.

exick: giving her every inch of his love

they cut that part out on purpose.

thanks Subby, was looking forward to hearing it.

It sounds like Lewis actually did a pretty nice job with the song, though the mix sounds as though she's singing at the other end of a tunnel from Page. Page did a fabulous job. Sure wish I had seen the Zeppelin one-off last year.

Didn't catch it, I was wondering what ripped-off song he would use.

It's pretty challenging to get live music to sound right in a stadium that big. What blew my mind is Jimmy Page looks asian:

You have to admire a man who made millions ripping off poor African American musicians. Maybe we can start admiring Dick Clark next.

Wow, the sound bothered me.. Page's strums got all lost and jumbled up in the echos.

I bet it was cool to see live though.. Sure wish I could've seen Zeppelin live, whenever.

I suppose London is feeling rather cocky about the whole thing.

the sound mix was way messed up. My surround sound speakers were way too loud and the whole thing sounded like it was off tempo

tokeymctoke 2008-08-25 08:09:29 PM
Why is the professional video footage accompanied by total crap audio from a room mic? They couldn't get the broadcast mix or even the live board mix?

Even so, it sounds particularly bad -- as if they closed the roof and emptied all the people out of the place. Commies don't care about acoustics?

Dear Jerk 2008-08-25 08:24:26 PM
In about 1989, when I first saw Mariah Carey and heard her first single, and thought to myself, 'this might get pretty good,' this is sort of what I had in mind.

well that sucked... exactly what I was expecting.. an idiot oversinging a great song with a tired ass old man trying to pretend he's really playing and not playing over a prerecording.. all in front of ridiculous sets and idiotic backup dancers trying to look like theyre "rocking out" while doing West Side Storyesque dance moves.. fark I hate the media

I thought it looked faked too. Not that he couldn't have played it live (obviously). I thought for a second that maybe they were having him fake it so that they could make the broadcast sound better, but as others have said it sounded like donkeybutt.
Whatever the case may be, he is looking so old, and the performance was so lame. I can't believe that anyone is willing to pay to see that live...nostalgia is one thing, but he looks like he's ready to start climbing the stairway.

Oh for chrissakes... Page did more to get those guys noticed than anyone before or since. He never purposely ripped them off. He completely admired them and based his music on the music he loved. I know I personally checked out dozens if not hundreds of blues artists such as Willie Dixon and Bukka White because of Zeppelin that I wouldn't have ever heard of if not for them.

That London thing with the bus, football, dancers as London's populace, and that little girl walking on their backs was so farking lame I thought I was back in primary school doing rehearsals for the school play.

London 2012 lame.

The whole performace looked mimed. But, hey, it's the Olympics, even Bjork had to lip synch in 2004. EVEN JACKIE CHAN LIP SYNCHED!!!!!!

The London segment was so friggin lame. A bunch of losers doing the robot while waiting for the bus. All they were missing were some posts and lintels about to be crushed by little druids.

You bet your ass he did. You think those riffs "accidentally" slipped off his fingers and on to the recordings? That he just forgot, somehow, to NOT keep the royalties that rightfully belonged to black American artists? So, it wasn't on purpose that Page waited 'til Willie Dixon sued him in 1985 to properly credit (and pay for) Whole lotta love? For many, if not most, songwriters of the era, songwriters royalties were the only money they got. They got little or nothing for their actual recordings, and in some cases they did not record their songs themselves. They earned their money from royalties due whenever someone else performed or recorded their music. Except when people like Page lied about the authorship and kept all the money for themselves.

Tell ya what we do. You go to work, see, and I will "accidentally" keep your paycheck. Then I will fark your mom, but not on purpose! And it will be ok, because when I do so, tens of farkers will click on your profile who would have otherwise completely ignored you.

If you think Page's career is built off of him ripping each individual riff note for note then your a moron not worth debating. Certainly LED ZEPPELIN eventually had to pay out royalties several times on 3 songs I believe, but Page at his best is a much much better musician than any of the original blues guitarists from America that started the style.

Depending on how asinine about it you want to get, you could go ahead and say that almost of the great British guitarists completely jacked their entire style from blues musicians.
