Scary indeed. Good thing they're all OK.

Dude seriously WTF 2008-08-24 11:24:30 PM
If I had a million dollars...

I'd buy a good mechanic

Jane told him to be a good boy and wind it up before take off. But he hadn't talked to her in one week since she pinched him. He was still mad about another postcard he got from the old apartment. So they broke up and he got an alternative girlfriend. It was too little too late. She never called and he never answered. I guess he didn't like the sound of her voice. Alcohol may have been involed. The moral of the story? Even though he was a celebrity who had a million dollars, he didn't go shopping for a mechanic who will do a little testing, 1, 2, 3. It should've been easy, but one little slip and he was falling for the first time.

/Thanks, that was fun!
//Glad he's ok.

I thought that Alcohol was just for those with
nothing else to do
I thought that drinking just to get drunk
was a waste of precious booze
But now I know that there's a time
and there's a place where I can choose
To walk the fine line between
self-control and self-abuse

Barenaked Ladies are good,
but they are no Pentagram.

Most annoying band of the last 10 years; their music is
repetitive and though they try to put up a front of "Hey,
we're just nerds!" and being all chummy & pleasant, they
come off as inauthentic douchebags.

But that's no reason to wish that any of them die in a plane
crash. Quite the opposite: rockstars who die (especially in
plane crashes) tend to be lionized after their deaths, and
I want them to live to a ripe old age to enjoy their obscurity
(financed by selling their songs to any company with the $$$ to
use them in their commercials).

/Not enough caffeine this morning to dull my opinionated neurons

A different kind of flying. Altogether.

But not a real plane crash, that's cruel.

If one of the Barenaked Ladies had to die, I'd rather it wasn't Ed Robertson.

The keyboard player's an old friend of mine. Played in a couple of bands with him before he struck gold with the Ladies. He's the farthest from being a douche that you could get. I give the others a pass by extension.

/I honestly believe they are like that. Not inauthentic at all.

If you're being truthful, then I have misjudged them.

If you're trolling, mange moi.

/I do prefer to believe the former, however.

No troll, mon ami.
But yeah, i'd prefer to think of them as a bunch of bastards too.
Not really fond of that kind of music.

I always wondered if Steven Page was introduced to coke by his pal, Jason Priestly. I once saw Priestly interviewed by George Stromboulopoulous on The Hour and it seemed like he was coked out of his mind:

You forgot to mention that he was stepping on pins and needles for not blaming it on Yokey.

TFA:
MacKinnon said police aren't releasing any further details, including the names of the plane's occupants

"He was flying," said one resident, adding Robertson's wife and two friends, Jeff and Julie Jones, were the passengers.

possible FAIL?

[like, hey, mr. reporter, maybe they're not releasing the other names right now for a reason....durrr]

That's because they were lovers in a dangerous time. But, to be honest, they never really knew each other anyway, so I didn't mention it.

Damn...don't let the Canadian government read this. They'll revoke my residency.

Wow, this far into a Canadian band thread and noone has mentioned Rush.

I've seen them in concert quite a few times, and they seem like pretty cool dudes to me - great showmen and musicians, know how to connect with an audience, their spontaneous witty banter is actually spontaneous (they don't repeat the same ad libs at multiple concerts).

They also have fan cruises to allow their fans to see them up close.

Not sure what's douchebaggy about any of this, other than maybe they're just not your flavor? Personally I prefer a band with a sense of humor to a serious "message" band that takes itself too seriously.

Anyway, glad to hear Ed is OK and hope things work out for Steve. If anything, maybe all this crap they're going through will inspire some good music.

You mean the talented one who is an excellent guitarist and writes good pop hooks, not the bloated, blowhard hack whose songs all follow the same chord progression?
