I had a friend who was biatching to me about his paychecks. He works at a gas station and the owner owns about 10 of them in town and the surrounding areas. First when he went to the check cashing joint, they called up the gas station, the boss said he had no idea who my friend was so the check was turned down on the spot. The boss refused to cut him a new check or to just give him the cash, said that it would be done on the next check run. Next check run, and the one after, the boss didn't pay him at all. I told him, "Dude, if he owns that many businesses and he's that much of a bastard, go to the newspaper or get a hold of Channel 4 or 5. They'd love to get a story like that. The fear of him losing business over bad press of not paying his employees would be enough to make sure your check was never late and never turned down." instead he went to the shop told the owner that he either got all his back pay on the spot or he'd never return, the boss paid him every last cent...then cut his hours by about 60%.
