(TBO) Florida The Stone Temple Pilots cancel their show in Florida-- after fans had already filled the seats and the opening act had already performed. "If the reason was inclement weather, they didn't know that until 10:30?"   (www2.tbo.com) divider line 23

Christ, the fact they came that CLOSE to performing shocks me.

Looks like Scott Weiland really did spend too much time hanging out with those Guns N Roses cats.

What a joke. Honestly I liked their first album from beginning to end. There wasn't a weak track on it. In fact it was one of the albums that got me to listen to rock music.

After that they went downhill producing 2-3 songs per album that I thought were any good.

inclement weather?

Does that mean that there was or was not "snow" backstage?

Looks like the crowd lucked out.

STP sucks.

That shiat might fly in 1996, when you're at the top of your game... but these days?

Saw them last night in Atlanta and was pleasantly surprised that they performed on time and did well.

Stone Temple Pilots are good,
but they are no Ash Ra Tempel.

When Scott Weiland is actually coherent and energetic, he's a helluva frontman.

I saw them in July. They were better than I expected, but Scott Weiland's voice was a bit too raspy for someone who has only played maybe three weeks of shows before then. That and all the songs they played, while very good, are all starting to sound a bit dated.

I liked "Purple" ok...but yeah, sometimes an artist or group really does just nail it on the first try. And when they do, it kind of sucks, as every album thereafter is just a little bit disappointing.

/STP nailed it with "Core"

deserves what they get

Aside from Eric screwing up Sex Type Thing and Scott forgetting some of the lyrics to Tripping On A Hole In A Paper Heart, you're right.

July 1988: Erasure playing the Phantasy Theater in Cleveland, Ohio on "The Innocents" tour.

It wasn't until after the opening act (can't remember who it was) played that they canceled the show because the roof was leaking on all the equipment backstage.

The bestest part of the story? Bunches of people had thrown their ticket stubs on the floor before the announcement so we managed to snag quite a few extra tickets for the make-up show two days later!

I met some of the most amazing people that night who changed my life for the better.

// Yes, I realize that admitting I willingly went to an Erasure concert in public will invite all kinds o' mocking.

Glad to see someone around here with taste. Seen BRMC seven times, mostly as a headliner. Sure wish people would wake up to them. Between Red Eyes And Tears up to Weapon of Choice they really are one of the better American rock bands around.

We were joking about this at the Charlotte show last weekend. The hubby got mad at me for calling it the 'He's Not Dead Yet Tour'

/good show though
//butchered Big Bang Baby, though

And I feel, so much depends on the weather
So is it raining in your green room?

I went to the Tampa show. I'm getting a refund, fark you Scott Weiland. Spoiled Hollywood junkie, you have one big responsibility as a rock star: show the fark up. You failed.

If they do a new album, I'll debate giving them another chance. For now I'm done with this band. I feel like a fool after years of telling friends that Scott was the best live frontman I had seen and how if STP ever reunited they had to go see them.

STP played a really strong show at Virgin Festival a couple weeksago (although they did come on 20 mins late).

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club was really good, one of the two "new to me" bands I discovered at the festival (the other being Gogol Bordello).
