'cause that's a great way to distance yourself from bush...

Bukharin [TotalFark] 2008-08-23 11:06:27 PM
I dont think Colin Powell is a republican.

BooBoo23 [TotalFark] 2008-08-23 11:15:34 PM
Yeah, good luck with that.

HansensDisease [TotalFark] 2008-08-23 11:17:11 PM
He doesn't need Colin Powell. McCain already stole Powell's story about looking into Putin's eyes and seeing "the KGB".

dj4aces [TotalFark] 2008-08-23 11:20:16 PM
Didn't Powell pretty much retire from politics after his foray in the Bush administration?

Do you think, even if he accepted the VP offer from McCain, people would forget his lying to the UN leading up to the Iraq war?

I don't think there's anyone McCain can pick that won't get their collective asses handed to them by OBiden.

IronTom [TotalFark] 2008-08-23 11:22:30 PM
Got a lot of respect for Mr. Powell.

Powell's wife suffers from depression so he won't ever run for that high of an office

He can consider all he wants -- I don't see Powell going for it.

If he did, however... watch out, I think we'd have ourselves a race in that situation.

Yesdog [TotalFark] 2008-08-23 11:40:02 PM
It kind of makes sense. Both are true war heroes who USED TO BE honorable, respected statesmen before they were tainted and discredited due to their proximity to Bush and Rove.

Litterbox [TotalFark] 2008-08-23 11:40:05 PM
Powell was the only guy that I had any respect for in the Bush administration right up until the time he shiat all over the United States with his little dog and pony show at the UN. Powell can fark off and die as far as Im concerned.

To be fair neither is McCain...

THIS

IronTom: Got a lot of respect for Mr. Powell.

me too. There is no way in hell he is going to be a part of a third Bush term after the way GWB threw him under a bus during the Saddam WMD fiasco.

Psychotropic 2008-08-24 12:04:18 AM
Powell sold his dignity and self respect to the Bush administration. He was a loyal party man who did what he was told. He was fired for his loyalty.

I don't see him wanting anything to do with being McCain's vice president.

I felt bed thinking it. =/

That would be the McCain/ black vagina ticket ... unstoppable as it would cause heads to explode among those who like either black or vagina.

Old white guy and black vagina? You just can't get more diverse than that.

What are outside advisers, what do they do, and why should I care what they "believe"?

Colin Powell will ROFLWTFBBQ if asked to serve in another neocon administration.

I mean, I think he would.

Right, Colin? RIGHT?!

A war criminal ticket? Nice... maybe they can get Henry Kissinger to be Secretary of State.

He was, but he has said (or strongly hinted) he supports Obama. I also don't think he would be interested given what he has said in the past and whatnot. Plus, he is also 71.

There is a 90% chance that it is going to be Romney... Powell has stepped away from politics.

SilentStrider [TotalFark] 2008-08-24 01:42:33 AM
Honestly, i see McCain picking Huckabee, in an effort to regain some "credibility" with the evangelical vote. Doesn't hurt that Huckabee comes across as warm, friendly, and intelligent too.

Former prisoner of war John McCain picking Colin Powell? Not sure if Powell accepts it, even though John McCain spent 5 1/2 years in a Vietnamese prison.

I also heard he was held by the Viet Cong.

Colin POWell?

He's really shoving it in our faces lately...

Lionel Mandrake [TotalFark] 2008-08-24 02:25:22 AM
Whoa, woah...wait a minute.

Former POW John McCain, who was once a POW, was a POW? Wow, you'd think he'd mention this little known fact.

Anyway, there's an old saying in Tennessee - I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee - that says, fool Colin Powell once, shame on - shame on you. Fool Colin Powell, uh...Colin Powell can't get fooled again.

I think I watched that on PornTube last night.

Powell lost my respect when he made the choice to lie about Iraq to further Bush's agenda. I don't think I will ever trust the man again.

Unhip1 [TotalFark] 2008-08-24 04:25:02 AM
Colin Powell was used and abused by the Bush Admin. I doubt he's going to trust someone who has been kissing their collective ass for the past few years.

Stay clear, Colin....you're the only one who seemed rational. Keep your integrity intact!

I'd rather he run for President himself, anyway...

Hastor 2008-08-24 04:30:14 AM
Yeah, paint Powell as the honorable soldier who fought the powers that be and was fired for it all you want, but he stepped on the world stage selling their snake oil for them. I don't really think any but the most partisan paintbrush will ignore that.

Shouldn't that be "old white dick and black vagina"? Let's be fair here.

slobarnuts 2008-08-24 04:44:18 AM
If Colin Powell accepts I will be really surprised.

I have a whole lot of respect for that guy. It rally is a shame that he became the posterboy for the Iraq War.

After reading and hearing through a bunch of stuff, even Powell said that he was probably duped into making his presentation. That is why he just got out of politics entirely.

Yea, he wont be the VP.

It will probably be Jindall, just so they can put that token colored person on the ticket.

Befuddled 2008-08-24 04:49:37 AM
McCain is considering anyone who'll actually accept being his VP. Who'd really want to be forever linked to McFail?

And why people have any respect for Powell is beyond me. Why does he get any credit over all the other lying pieces of shiat who served Bush. Powell knew just as well as Rumsfeld and Cheney what bullshiat was being offered up as justification for the Iraq war.

clovis69 2008-08-24 04:53:29 AM
I like Rice over Powell. If its Jindall, I'm voting Obama for sure. God I hate, hate Biden, but I'm not going vote for some openly creationist nutjob.

McCain, who is a failed presidential candidate, is in panic mode.

Mr Logo 2008-08-24 05:31:18 AM
I have a lot of respect for Powell despite his pathetic antics at the UN. The real question is how much that slide show would come back to haunt him if he were running for veep.

/still wants Obama to win

skookum: And if McCain does pick Powell, you liberals are finished.

That does not compute.

I don't believe there is a segment of the conservative populace (besides those directly employed by the McCain campaign, and possibly Fox news) who stands confident that McCain will pull this election off. It doesn't matter who his running mate is -- John McCain is his own worst enemy, press wise!

GentlemanJ 2008-08-24 06:19:47 AM
Rice would be best. I hope he can talk her into it...
