"I have long regarded Biden as an opponent of the cause for reasons like Tommy says, and more," offers Drug Policy Alliance executive director Ethan Nadelmann, "but I was surprised when he was the one who introduced the 1:1 crack/powder reform bill this year, which leapfrogged the more modest reforms put forward by Sens. Kennedy, Hatch and others. I'm not sure whether to take it as a sign of a more general opening up on his part, or just a play for the African-American vote in the primaries. But at least Biden isn't entirely bad news for drug policy."

It's just like in the Bible, where Jesus is asked if a blind man's blindness was because he had sinned or because of his parents' sins.

And Jesus responds by shooting the blind man with an AK-47.

/or so I've been told

About medical marijuana, Biden has said: "We have not devoted nearly enough science or time to deal with the pain management and chronic pain management that exists. There's got to be a better answer than marijuana."

Dude, it grows out of the ground. God put it here. What could be a better answer than that?

I'm still learning about Biden. So far he and I are running at about 50% in common. That is, however, much much more than I have in common with McCain.

/would have preferred Richardson
//didn't expect to see it though

That's true, but again, look at the alternatives. I think the only other Veep choice who would have clicked more with me, personally, is Sebelius. The rest weren't great.

Lucky for us, McCain's choices are even shiattier.

The only good news I can see is that Biden will probably be too old to run for President in 2016.

Churchill2004: The only good news I can see is that Biden will probably be too old to run for President in 2016.

He'd be 73. McCain can run at 72, and he's in much worse health. Who knows.

DamnYankees [TotalFark] 2008-08-23 07:51:57 PM
Also, to think way in advance, maybe Biden will be replaced on the 2012 ticket if they win, and replaced with someone like Sebelius, who'd be a bit more well known by then.

With the way Social Security is going he might never be able to retire. Or he could ascend due to death... I hope not... that's a Civil War starting kind of event.

So he's responsible for some stupid ass shiat, and does not bring 'change'. In fact, Obama himself has rescinded his stance on marijuana decriminalization...

go war on drugs!

As an African-American that has used cocaine, Obama must be getting a kick.

meh, Biden is on the wrong side of this issue and in time marijuana will be decriminalized regardless of this stupid law. I believe it is a generational thing and younger generation tend to be liberal about these things.

/Looking closely to Biden's record, he is really a centrist.

Agreed. Dumb libs. How can they cast their vote when Biden has an anti drug history? Don't they know that McCain will legalize it? Don't they realize that the veeps history in the war on drugs is THE SINGLE GREATEST ISSUE OF THIS ELECTION?

heh as opposed to who? The party that has stuck us in two wars, wrecked economy, falling dollar, record gas prices, decreasing stock market, pro torture, and a tarnished name around the world?

Republicans have abused the country for seven years, no way in hell will I reward them with a vote.

This is true, and having the Democrats in the office will do more for the efforts than the Reps. will do....

I'm just tired of all the bullshiat.

the younger generation is either going to be the biggest changemaker or the biggest walking example of a hypocrite.

Well, we won't know for sure until the debates. Gwen Ifell is sure to ask about this issue.

when it comes to personal freedom, it factors in. The government should not tell you what to put or not put into your body. Drugs should be treated as a health/social issue rather than a criminal one

Spoken like a true lib. I'll bet you think the economy, war, our ability to use diplomacy internationally, and energy dependence are more important then the fact that Biden coined the term "drug czar". Pfft.

Do you think 'change' means overturning every existing law? I fail to see your point.
