The new album is a great comeback.

Back in the 80's my Priest-loving friend and I often engaged in the Halford is/is not gay argument. You owe $100, Ray Wittiak, which, with compound interest and adjusted for inflation comes to $42,552. Pay up!

Or he can just give you the equivalent in blow jobs. Adjusted for inflation, of course ;)

As far as I'm concerned, he will always be Priest.

I don't think it's cool to slag Ripper. There are very few singers in the world that could have done what he did.

That said, the new singer for Journey apparently stole Steve Perry's vocal chords in the middle of the night. The guy's incredible.

You know...it was often suspected that Halford was gay back in the 80's (look at the video for Hot Rockin). But the bottom line for many of us old-school Priest fans is that we didn't care....Halford can farking sing.

I dunno... Ripper breathed some new life into what was a pretty stagnant band at the time.

And while classics like "Victim of Changes", "Hell Bent for Leather" and the like have their place, the shine is removed a bit when you listen to tripe like "Turbo Lover"... what crap.

Haven't heard the new disc yet. Worthwhile?

Painkiller is one of my favorite metal albums of all time, and Priest's heaviest up to that date. It didn't sound stagnant at all, to me they were on top of their game.

Endzone108 2008-08-23 09:07:37 PM
Obviously Tim is no Halford but he is still a damn good singer and he did a fantastic job live with Priest. He's singing for Yngwie now and I'm really interested to hear that.

Saw em in early Aug. in MPLS and they rocked HUGE.
Never thought in a million years I would bring my sons to a Priest show, was just a kick ass night.
The new album is really good and worth a listen if you haven't heard it.

Dude, did you just wake up from a twenty year sleep, or what? Here, let's get you caught up:

1. Halford is gay
2. Buckethead played with Axl Rose in G-n-R
3. Slash, Duff, and Matt formed Velvet Revolver
4. The Beatles broke up

craigdamage 2008-08-23 09:43:30 PM
Did anyone NOT know he was gay?

......even before he "came out"

I never understood why he ever came out in the first place.
Is Colonel Sanders going to "come out" that he sells chicken?

Halford being gay is old news. No one cares. Fact of the matter is Priest kicks major ass, they will always be metal. I saw them a couple of years ago with Queensryche. They blew me away with how well they can still put on a show.

I submitted this video a couple of weeks ago.It never went green, but it's a great look back to Priest before the leather.

The Hellion and Electric Eye remains, to this day, the greatest heavy metal musical experience ever.

Nothing else even comes close. There are a lot of amazing metal songs, but if I wanted to present to someone who has never heard it before an example of its badassery, I look no further than the first two tracks on Screaming for Vengeance. (which is actually just one song, the intro just gets its own title because it's that farking awesome.)

I saw them on that tour and it was amazing. I saw them for Defenders of the Faith and a couple times with Ripper too. Awesome concert experience every time.

In the spirit of brotherly metal love, you should allow him a BJ with swallowing, in lieu of the bet plus interest.

Oh, it's definitely good... but after Painkiller, didn't Rob split to start Fight? IIRC correctly the record company wouldn't allow a side project or something, so he left...taking their new drummer (who I think was largely responsible for the attitude change in Painkiller)

My boy is only 19 months, I'm a little saddened that he will likely never see Priest or Maiden live. I am also saddened by the prospects of what he will drag me to see...

To be honest, he didn't slag Ripper. He just equated that era of Priest to Van Hagar or Maiden without Bruce. (another comparison: Queen + Paul Rodgers)

Rob can't even stand up straight on stage any more. He has to curl into a standing fetal position to compress is diapgram so he can even come close to hitting the notes. He spends the whole show bent over, looking like he's gonna throw up.

Retire Rob, and take the rest with you, before you all look like real idiots and soil the legacy of metal's finest.

Sadly true, but still a great show (just saw them last Tuesday). And they did play The Hellion/Electric Eye, along with a nice smattering of stuff rather than play the same set they did a couple years ago for Angel of Retribution. They even dusted off "Dissident Aggressor" for obscurity's sake.

I suspect there could be a possible gay element in the Village People.

Unlike the Bronski Beat and Frankie Goes to Hollywood, there is something a little fruity about the Village People I think.
