See, what this woman should have done was used a code. Like, instead of saying she wanted dollars, she should have said she wanted roses. She could have been all like, "yeah, I'll come over and have sex with you, but you'll have to give me 250 roses." And her real customers would have the decoder ring that has all her secret terms on it, and they could line it up so that the word "roses" came up and they could see that it really meant "dollars," which, really, isn't all that surprising anymore because all her code words seem to mean dollars. I mean, "rings" means dollars, and "diamonds" means dollars, and "kisses" means dollars, and you know, this really isn't that much of a code, come to think of it. But the police, see, they wouldn't have that code ring. The police would have been all like, "Wow, this is a high maintenance woman. Where the hell are we going to find 250 roses? Forget that noise." And everything would have been fine.

I wouldn't call them "erotic", really. More like "desultory, repetitive friction activities with high risk of bacterioviral compromise".

So reading the ads is then the equivalent of patronizing someone selling erotic services?

""We were notified via email anonymously that this individual was soliciting prostitution on the internet," Johnson said. "

Sounds like the woman had an unhappy customer, and anyways who the hell thinks email is anonymous? If she's crafty, she should have her lawyer to get the email address, and have the john busted for solicitation (if it was one of her johns that ratted her out anyways).

Cure for boredom: Looking at the pictures of people advertising erotic services on craigslist.

Hint- they're never attractive, and usually hilarious. It's like a game, how many fat hairy guys with their wieners out can you find?

It's not really sex for money, though. It's usually sex for roses, pearls, or lollipops.

Heh. This is near St. Louis. They probably heard about her on "105.7 The Point", a local new rock type radio station. Every friday I think it is they do a segment called "how much for that craigslist whore" where one of the Djs reads the ad and the other tries to guess how much she charges.

Just curious, how easy/difficult was it to find your job on CL? Lately Monster.com seems to be a cesspool of low paying jobs, or headhunters/temp agencies. I think CL might be my next job search area.

See here's what I think they should do. Offer sex education classes. Those are legal aren't they? Then the student has the option to buy course materials, do experiments in the lab (careful with that bunsen burner though), gain experience with using the latest tools and techniques, etc.

Everybody wins!

Well its different than using Monster or CareerBuilder. I prefer it. If you know what you are looking for the ability to search for keywords and geographic area makes it pretty easy to get several relevant postings easily. The companies that advertise on Craigslist do range in quality, but there are plenty of decent ones. It tends to be more effective than just posting your resume online since these companies are actively soliciting resumes and you will be emailing it directly to them.

There are normal, sane, bored housewives on Craigslist. They are hard to find, but very worth it.

Or so I hear.

skinink: Just curious, how easy/difficult was it to find your job on CL? Lately Monster.com seems to be a cesspool of low paying jobs, or headhunters/temp agencies. I think CL might be my next job search area.

From my own personal experience lately (and I've been looking EVERYWHERE for a job that will pay the mortgage and bills - well, except for posting myself on Craigslist for erotic services, LOL) -- most of the jobs I've applied to on Craigslist are marketing scams. Once you apply you receive an email asking you to click a link and apply -- and then it tries to collect either your cell phone info (?!?!?) or your social security info. It's pissing me off so badly that I cringe every time I hit craigslist to job hunt, because I get one 'maybe a real job' and five 'it actually sounded like an actual job, but ha-ha, they got me!' scams.

Still not sure why someone is collecting info on who your cell carrier is -- it's either so they can text you with advertisements, or so they can solicit you to a different service, I guess.

Some of them are obvious fakes -- little job description, no contact info, etc., but some are very convincing, with salary info and detailed duties, etc. I've been taken in several times, enough so that I'm cynical about every one I see now. However, I'm desperate enough for a job that I keep looking anyhow. :(

Good luck to you!

they're bogarting your hoes, GETTEM

back OT:

would people please grow the fark up and stop imposing they're own moral compass on the rest of the world. If someone wants to make an honest living by accepting payment for services rendered (read: farking for cash), why should anyone have any say about it? In ye olden times it made sense, diseases n' all, but in this day and age, what with this new thing called civilization and all (not to mention prevention. ie: condoms), I would have thought people could just get along without sticking their noses in.

That's the damned thing... casual encounters worked fine back when I was single, but the chicks weren't good for anything more than a one-night stand (if even that), but hey, that's all we expected. I steered clear of the erotic services because man, you gotta expect every damn one of those is a bunch of cops running a sting. If anything, I'm more surprised that they actually found a craigswhore that was REAL and not either cops or a porn-web-link.

Solarex 2008-08-23 09:46:26 PM
The police had nothing better to do than to set up an elaborate sting to catch this one "erotic services provider"? Do they not have any real crime in that town?

I blame the bible thumping puritans for this.
