Old people can remember back in the day when Biden was bald. They're wondering to themselves, if he was bald back then, how come he got wirey hair sticking out the top of his head today? I think that's an issue he's going to have to address.

racist?

SeismicJizzer 2008-08-23 05:40:31 PM
After watching Biden's speech today I am confident old people will gravitate towards Obama. Biden has that speaking style where he seems to feel your pain and understands the middle class.

I can see why the republicans are worried about him.

But, then again, Obama called him the President....

'Cause he needed to replace them with Obama/Biden ads.

The election isn't until November, you know.

Dbdmjs1022 2008-08-23 05:49:21 PM
For the record, Obama pulled ads from a bunch of red/swing states this week because he's gonna be getting a shiateload of free publicity because of the convention. In effect, running those ads for a couple million wouldn't have been worth it. His campaign's said they'll continue to air ads in all of those states after the convention is over.

If Nate beats the pollsters come November (like he did during the primaries)... then I won't be surprised if he gets a bunch of offers. Even Karl Rove visits his website.

And he's stealing bitter old women support from the old man yelling at a cloud. It's a perfect analogy!

Oh, Mattbutler jumped thread to whargarbl here. "Durrr, Obama's getting free press for the next week cause of the convention but he's refusing to throw his money away for no reason! He clearly would never be able to manage the economy as well as George W. Bush, who I bow down and worship every day as my personal messiah."

Good to see someone so concerned.

But building a massive email/text network for GOTV networks to use, so you can mobilize a traditionally quiet chunk of the voting public? what would a candidate pay for that? Couple million bucks?

Actually, no, because most campaigns wouldn't have thought of it.

We now have the Democratic Convention Drinking Game.

1 - every time Tweety Chris Matthews mentions that Biden came from poor times in Scranton, and uses the words "hardscrabble" or "coal" to describe the place, take a drink.

That's it. Guaranteed you'll need your stomach pumped by next Thursday.

Good question. I guess if you liked a candidate except for one specific trait, and the VP offered that trait in spades, it could push you over into their column.

Just watched Biden's speech... damn good. It's crazy that he became a U.S. Senator at age 28. As he mentioned in his speech, only four people have more seniority than him in the Senate, but 44 Senators are older than him.

Yes, Americans are so obsessed with politicians who misspeak. It's the nail in the coffin for their political career. And if they had an especially weak grasp of English, Americans definitely wouldn't make them president for two terms.

Misspeaking: the surefire path to the White House.

No, he became a Senator at age 30, but was elected at 29. You must be at least 30 years of age to be a Senator.

The point is 5 years is a significant difference. It's the difference between being barely eligible for regular social security and having drawn early social security for almost 10 years.

It's also a significant difference in that Biden will be younger than McCain is now at the end of Obama's first term.

It wouldn't surprise me overmuch if, after Obama's first term (assuming they win), Biden is replaced on the ticket by someone else (Though I would also guess that Obama would let Biden make that decision).

Well, a lot of senior citizens remember the Nixon years fondly.

Nixon was pretty pouplar back then, too.
