Yeah, that scenario isn't predicated on any other assumptions at all besides Virginia going McCain.

They give Colorado to "barely republican." I think McCain blew it in Colorado and it's going to Obama. You don't fark with our water, ever. And as the Fark headline stated, McCain stepped on that "third-rail."

Election goes to the House; Obama wins.

Or

Election goes to the House; 'blue dog' Democrats defect; McCain wins.

Democratic Party then gets to take a huge, relieving, DINO-dump so they feel all refreshed just in time for McCain to fark up the world and America beyond all recovery.

You may be right. There are some other questionable calls. NV to Obama? I'd be less surprised to see PA to McCain.

Yup. A tie is quite acceptable as the House will make Obama president.

Virginia is hardly a "red state;" in fact, we're rather purple right now.

As Colbert said almost two years ago, the Republican strategy for this election may well be "Lose!"

http://www.crooksandliars.com/2006/09/22/colberts-strategy-for-the-gop-lose-in -n ovember/ (new window)

And as time goes on, it appears he actually may be correct.

PC LOAD LETTER: Geez, McCain hasn't even picked a VP yet, STFU until after the conventions.

The VP isn't going to change anyone's opinions. The only VP choice that would change anyone's opinion would be if Obama picked Hillary and that would get some bitter, squawking PUMA votes.

Everyone's made up their minds. Obama will slap McCain down like a pimp but it's not going to matter. It'll be another case of some fark up in the system or the antiquated bullshiat electoral college system and McCain will win.

When it's all over and McCain wins, will someone explain to me how when we have a President with a less then 30% approval rating, leading a war with a less than 20% approval rating, we can elect a guy with the same policies and promises more if not worse than the same will win. And he's old and senile on top of everything else. WTF?

Mugato: Everyone's made up their minds.

Hands down the dumbassest observation on this thread that is already cluttered with dumbassery.

Most Americans don't even begin to pay close attention to the presidential race until after the conventions, and even then there are a lot that are undecided well into October.

flavor of the month: i think obama will carry colorado and ohio.

Obama will not carry Ohio.

As much as I'd like that to happen, it will not.

I live in this godawful stupid f*cking state.

I experience all manner of its stupidity daily.

I've seen perfectly intelligent judges applaud with sincerity when hearing a speech from a congressional candidate proclaiming to be a "young earth creationist."

I overhear the stupid freeper talking points in casual conversation at the grocery store.

"He's a muslim, you know."
"He's not even a real American- can they let him run for President even though he's an African?"
"I think he just wants to give away America to the blacks."
"He wants to take away the Bible."

It would be one thing if people were forming arguments against his platforms as an affront to conservatism, but it's not even that.

They have no idea what the man even stands for.

And the only reason Ohio is a 'battleground' state is because opinion polls shift and change as frequently as the chorus of boos and applause on the Jerry Springer show.

Obama will not take Ohio.

Possibly.

Honestly I don't think most folks, even the more active union democrats, really know anything about the man.

And god knows the first reaction in the stupid crowd is going to be "see that? A black man picks a white guy for VP to win us over. THAT'S SO CONDESCENDING."

I can understand people picking sides. We all think we know what's right. The problem with Ohio, I think, isn't so much the fallacy of arguments or that they disagree with any of my positions, it's that they simply don't care what's true. They don't care.

"He's a muslim."
-"No he isn't. Not that this would be relevant to his capabilities as president, but here's a stack of evidence that says he isn't."
"I don't know, I'm just saying he's a muslim. And I don't like that."

How about the basic stuff, like Biden has a bunch of experience, knoswn foreign policy, and maybe most importantly, he has the lowest net worth of the entire Senate. I think they could really make that work, especially if McCain picks Romney.

Yep, and the Dems will be slammed for paying down the GOP deficit, you know, just like last time. If the Repubs would quit giving their party to the Bush Corp. Oil boys, we wouldn't be having this problem.

In a vice presidential debate, Biden would destroy Romney.

But then again, I thought that Edwards would pick apart Cheney in the 2004 VP Debate at Case Western, and the entire affair was fluff bullsh*t.

God, writing partisan hack op eds comes way too easily to me. Everything can be turned around with a flick of the wrist, every positive made negative by posing apparently innocent questions:

"The Democrats are trying to tell you that Joe Biden having the lowest net worth in the Senate is a good thing. A good thing? Do you really want a man who obviously has no sense of financial acumen a heartbeat from the presidency? How can Biden pretend to have the ability to manage America's economy when he can't even manage his own?"

I think Wisconsin might be going to McCain too. I live here and I don't know of one Obama supporter besides me. I'm sure there are some here and there.

I hear the same sh*t at work:

Obama is a Muslim. He hates whites and wants to make a black welfare state. He's going to raise our taxes. He is going to make the bible illegal. Gas prices are high because of Obama.

And my personal favorite: "Electing Obama would be like electing Hitler during WWII. The last thing WE need is a terrorist running the country!!! There is a war going on!!!"

That is a good site. there is one thing i couldn't see any reference to, though. It didn't state which states are or are not "winner-take-all states". Most are, but there are several that apportion their electoral votes according to their popular vote.

That map had McCain getting 50% of the vote in Georgia. I think Barr is going to draw at least 5%, Nader will get half a percent, and Biden will help secure the more intelligent of Hillary's supporters who actually want the Democrats and the Country to win, not just Hillary.

/Thats what I think, anyways.
