Maybe you need someone to do a half-ass job, demand a lot of paid time off, and then threaten to sue you for civil rights violations if you raise any sort of protest?

Like if you are staffing a school or a post office, for example...

If I could, I'd hire RON PAUL because he'd not only defrost my fridge, he'd make my bed, and would dry clean my undershorts.

as a small business owner on Fark (we all are, aren't we ?) I hire dozens of Republicans.

Every time one gets hauled off to jail I immediately replace him with another just like him.

The largest single employer of people who identify themselves as Democrats is government. Generally they are union jobs with no accountability to the public, very low risk of firing, no incentive to please their customers and a broad reputation as "crappy".

Those well suited to government style employment are precisely the type of people the private sector avoids hiring.

while reading this, I turned to look out my window, and I see my 50 yr old bro-in-law. he's wearing a t-shirt he bought from rush limbaugh that says "if you're still voting democrat, you are stuck on stupid". He has emerged from his rent-free basement apartment (his parents live upstairs) and he is preparing to walk to the woods to smoke some pot. He has always lived with his folks, he once had a good job, but when he was given an assignment in a territory that featured a female supervisor who suggested to him that he "work from 8-5" his mother told him it'd be okay to quit, because, he shouldn't be working for a "biatch" anyway.

after he has had his smoke, he will return to the basement, flip on FOX NEWS for some ambient noise and take another nap. Then he will wake spry and ready to poke fun at all the liberals who won't pull themselves up by their bootstraps. Maybe later, he will borrow some money from dad to go and fetch a carton of cigs, but all this physical labor will lead to another nap before supper...

OK, let's actually deal with TFA seriously. Here it is, in its entirety:

Views of the job situation continue to differ along partisan lines with 69% of Democrats and 65% of independents -- but only 49% of Republicans -- saying jobs are hard to find in their area. This gap has persisted even as the impression that jobs are scarce has risen across party lines. Overall, 61% of Americans now say jobs are difficult to find in their area compared with 48% who said so in November 2007.

So it has nothing to do with actual joblessness rates: it has to do with perceptions of the job market. And Republicans have a more partisan reason to say "No, the job market's fine, if you can't get a job you must be a lazy lib" than Democrats do (who might actually have a more partisan reason to be downbeat on the economy, actually.)

So yet another misleading headline leading to uninformed "lib" bashing. Wow, this never happens on Fark.

Sounds like your brother in law has latent Democrat tendencies. He'll come out of the closet soon enough.

It seemed like a pretty lame survey. They didn't specify that they surveyed people actively searching for jobs. So I guess they just called people and asked "how easy is it to find a job." Seems reasonable to expect results based solely on one's political outlook and what the read on the internet or see on TV.

Yes because when everyone thinks of people with higher education they think republicans.

It is amazing that libs can be both elitist professors and high school dropouts. That is impressive.

Fark regularly bashing libs? Surely you jest, sir. I suggest you hang out in the politics section a little more and read the threads. It's usually a 20:1 lib-to-other ratio, so anybody who attempts to bash a lib is immediately bashed by 20.

Saying Fark is a lib-bashing vehicle is like that claim that the press doesn't favor Obama. Suuuuuure it doesn't.

As much as you snark, I believe back in 2004 there were studies done that basically proved what you said correct. Democratic voters tend to have more of the PhDs and only HS degrees/GEDs/drop outs and Republican voters tend to be the ones with Bachelors.

I dunno. Given that the economy averages something like 10% better returns under democratic leadership, its plausible that democrats are just better informed about the state of the economy.

I can envision a world in which people who make 20,000 dollars a year and think that shifting the tax burden from the rich to everyone (especially themselves) with a fair national sales tax could MAYBE not have a good grasp on the local economic situation.

Half-ass job, and lots of time off? Reminds me of a certain republican in the oval office right now. He's too busy violating civil rights to sue anybody though.

Don't worry libs, one day "self-entitled welfare-queens" will be considered an equal-oppertunity occupation. Then you can all just get transgendered pregnancies and live off the fruits of the State.

Democrats 69%

Republicans 49%

Come to RepublicanLand--there's plenty of jobs for pool boys, caddies, maids, chauffeurs, groundskeepers...you name it, we want it! (Social Security and Green cards optional.)

College education also has a liberalizing effect, doesn't it?

Republicans are proof positive of "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing."

This topic, and it's responses remind me of a video showing 18-24 year old's being asked about health insurance. They one and all admitted spending between 200-400 dollars a month on entertainment but didn't have health insurance.

Why? They didn't feel like they should have to pay for it. This is why people hire Republicans instead of Democrats, because Republicans have this crazy idea about working for and earning things... Like money, and health insurance while Democrats think it should be given to them by the government.

What I find particularly funny about the age of ignorance (18-24) is that these little darlings seemed to have no clue that they would be giving up some of their precious entertainment money to pay the new tax associated with the health care they think somebody should give to them.

Nobody is going to give you anything, earn it. My health insurance is 141 dollars a month and I absolutely promise you I'll pay more than 141 dollars a month in taxes if some socialist gets in control and decides to steal more of my money in order to give it to somebody else who didn't earn it.
