Most plumbing is copper. Some older stuff is iron. Very little stainless steel.

Hillary did do amazingly well among the outhouse crowd in Kentucky and W.Va.

But, to the point of the "article", the gender ratio at an Obama rally is pretty good. GOP rallies tend to be sausagefests.

That doesn't entirely work. If I was voting solely based on political issues, I'd never vote. I strongly disagree with every candidate on large numbers of issues. I need some other criteria to vote on, since I can't vote on my political convictions.

There will never be a candidate with whom you entirely agree. We could have three more parties, and even then you wouldn't agree with everything they believed and supported. It's just not gonna happen. Thus, you vote for the best candidates. Since people never have a perfect candidate, they always make claims that both are poor choices or "race to the bottom" or whatever.

Like all true American penises, mine screams loudly for freedom. The politicians want to tax it to death, to tell it who it can fark and to send it to fight Arab or Persian penises.

My penis says no to war, no to government interference in our bedrooms, no to invading foreign lands (except first world countries, on holiday), no to ceiling gman watching us masturbate, etc. Endlessly.

My penis is a libertarian. An obnoxious one. If not kept docile with sweet confections of womanly charm, it would doubtlessly scream RON PAUL! and have a little tailored Thomas Jefferson outfit. With lace and a wig.

Freedom's the whole reason the penises of my forefathers came here. In the one hand, you had some penises in the Rheinland that were tired of German dicks and French cocks being such pricks over who "ruled" us. Centuries of it. In the other hand, you had some knobby Irish shillelaghs long tired of English shafting. They all said fark it, and came here to run free of tracht and cod, where the penises of a hundred different lands band together for freedom and prosperity and vigorous intercourse.

If you go deep inside yourself, or another person, I think you'll find that your penis (or, heck, your vagina) is a libertarian as well. All of our penises and vaginas have a natural taste, for freedom, that cannot be washed away by whatever douche the rigged system provides this election cycle.

because people who don't know about plumbing are "elitist". Right? Real Americans know plumbing.

Seriously, what about people who don't know who is a member of the G8? Don't know how many stocks are in the DJIA? Can't explain what stem cells are? Don't know the names of the SCOTUS justices? What countries are traditionally associated with the different sects of Islam we are dealing with in Iraq? Hell, don't know who their Senators and Congressman are?

I'm not talking "entirely". I'm talking fundamental differences that would prohibit me from supporting them as a candidate.

Basically, I don't vote based on political issues. I vote for the candidate that I think will be the most ineffective. I vote for people that I think won't accomplish anything during their tenure in office. If I can't improve the situation, I can at least ensure the least damage happens.

Well you have the right to do that. I made the comment because some people I know agree on 4 of 5 issues with a candidate and thus declare them terrible and a poor choice because it's not 5/5. Especially when it's their "pet" issue they disagree on. That's an inability to compromise to get things done. They would hold up progress on everything else they agree on because one issue is wrong.

Well, to be fair, I think the entire system is corrupt and needs to be replaced with a system developed according to the principles of systems design and analysis. Government should be fragmented and broken up into bite size, easily manageable chunks built around functional roles, not nested hierarchies.

I was actually making the comment based on the voters supporting them, not the candidates themselves.

/Biden is ~6 yrs younger and infinitely more energetic and youthful appearing, IMHO. Probably knows how to use the internet and google, too.

That is true, none the less, it is still used by old timers and in municipalities that haven't updated their building code to allow PEX.

Meh. I'm just not a fan of copper pipe after working as a pipefitter while I was finishing up my degree. It's more expensive, it's more of a pain in the ass to install and repair when it busts, and for non-commercial applications there is nothing to recommend it over PVC/PEX.

Could you imagine what would happen if the government gave a billion dollar (chump change) contract to about 10 premier US schools (MIT, CalTech, RPI, Carnage Mellon, GA tech, VT, etc...) to take a few years and design a more efficient and fair congressional district plan, voting system (at least the registration, physical act, and reporting), tax collection system, medicare/aid claim filing and disbursement system, etc.? It would pay dividends thousands of times the investment.

Might have something to do with how many people in the GOP are foaming at the mouth to take away womens' right to choose/control their own reproductive health. When they have ideas/bills floating around to label birth control as "abortion" and to enable radical religious types to get hired at clinics and other offices that offer services to women -- only to deny such services -- it's kind if hard to support them.

It goes beyond just reproductive rights, even. Many women use birth control to deal with pain, endemetriosis, heavy bleeding, irregular periods... and they want to take that away, too.

Obviously, there's more to it, but let's face it -- the Republicans by and large come across as hostile towards female health issues and most women who want a full host of options when it comes to their "plumbing" can't help but be a bit alienated by that.
