I was wondering when Hot Pockets would come up again.

from another article in the Washington Post:

Spokeswoman Roz O'Hearn said the reported foreign substance _ hard red plastic as well as clear flexible rubber-like material _ might have splintered off from a testing device and some of it could be buried inside with sharp edges.

One of my favorite not-often-seen Fark cliches.

This is news that could affect a great deal of the readership here, too.

notmtwain: the reported foreign substance _ hard red plastic as well as clear flexible rubber-like material _

Actually, that sounds like a pretty good description of Hot Pocket pepperoni.

I love those things.

Hard plastic and rubber-like material just might make them taste better. I'd rather have a Spam sandwich.

...stuffed pepperoni pizza sandwich products that may contain foreign materials

That's a little vague.

baltimoreblonde 2008-08-23 09:59:04 AM
My husband loves those disgusting things, but neither my son nor I will touch them. In fact, just bought some (the individually-wrapped ones) for hubby's lunch. Better warn him about this, just in case.

I think that's also written on the box as a description.

Didn't it take them forever just to finally come out with pepperoni Hot Pockets? Why do they have such a problem with this? Isn't pepperoni one of the fundamental ingredients of pizza FFS?

I love those things. But hate it when it squirts out the other end.

Doesn't it worry anybody that something that is, in thory, edible and can, in theory, prevent you from dying of starvation is labeled: "BEST BEFORE JAN2010."

What is it after Jan2010? still good, but not "Best?"

morrisonsl 2008-08-23 10:06:07 AM
I have never encountered these pockets of heat of which you all speak, but I can't say it sounds like I missed much of a culinary treat.

I always take the "best before" as an example of: "if you eat it after at least the colors will be pretty."

I had a Pepsi once that had many plastic shavings in the bottom, heard nothing of a recall.

"Take the number of Hot Pockets in the field, (A), and multiply it by the probable rate of red plastic and rubber choking's, (B), then multiply the result by the average out-of-court settlement, (C). A times B times C equals X..."

"If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one."

/hacky but I couldn't resist :Þ
