Goddamn I'm annoyed right now.

Um... really? You're this upset about a text message on your phone? Seriously?

This blogger sounds like a total retard. And the guy in the Weeners sounds like he's ready to have an aneurysm.

I'm posting this message anywhere I can as retribution for getting woken up at 3AM!!! I can't believe my f-ing phone went off at 3:00 in morning.

Do they not make cell phones with "off" buttons anymore?

steveo: Do they not make cell phones with "off" buttons anymore?

Even better, why is your "text message received" sound a full farking minute long and/or played at 120 decibels? Mine is a barely audible chirp, as text messages are intended to be less intrusive than a ringing phone.

Control_this [TotalFark] 2008-08-23 06:56:48 AM
Somebody explain to McCain what a text message is. Text messages are elitist, right?

xtex 2008-08-23 07:14:59 AM
LOL.. that was pretty funny when I got that. My first thought was "who the hell thought it was a good idea to pull the trigger at 3am?" .. luckily I was already awake because my job paged me 40 minutes before.

As far as shutting off the phone? A lot of people can't do that anymore -- because a mobile phone is their only phone.

It'd be great if the mobile phone OS makers would realize there's a pretty good demand for built in filtering options -- like "only notify on text messages received from people in my address book between midnight and 7am".

I didn't sign up for it the Obama message. I DID sign up for CNN breaking news text messages, though. Same effect, apparently.

It must suck to wake up at 3 am only to get news of Joe Biden. BFF Jill is not impressed.

anyone who couldn't see this coming after the trip to Georgia by Biden and the Obama response needs to be woke up.

I somehow managed to avoided this travesty of justice. Maybe it was by not signing up for the stupid farking thing in the first place.

Why was the message sent at 3AM? Why couldn't they send it at 9pm on Friday? There must be a reason for the timing and it would seem that the middle of the night is just odd.

WTF!?!?!?!?!

To get that text message HE HAD TO SIGN UP FOR IT.

If you got a text message, it's because you REQUESTED a text message.

Diagnosis: Another whiny jackass with too much time and access to the internet

There is a point in there. Obama supporters signed up to be the first to know who the vice president would be, but somehow the information leaked out.

shawnshawnery 2008-08-23 10:23:02 AM
He's not complaining that he received a text message. He's complaining that the text message was sent at 3am. Let's be fair here; it was really stupid to send a text that early.

I slept through the text message. You know, like a normal human being that doesn't have an actual ring tone for a text message. A light beep and a vibration.

This is a wired 24hr, 21st century world. The Obama campaign is in full gear at all hours protecting America. Mccain doesn't have a clue about any of this.

He did that for all his European supporters. They got their message during breakfast. Sending it any earlier would have been rude.

I was playing poker when I got my text around midnight

jjorsett 2008-08-23 01:25:00 PM
Somebody tell me if massively-addressed text messages all arrive simultaneously or if they take a while to percolate thru the system. Could it have been that they sent it much earlier and this guy got his late because getting distribution to a gazillion addressees can't be done instantly? Anyway, he's in the Eastern time zone. Left Coaster Democrats would have gotten it at midnight, which means they'd still be in the clubs doing crystal meth.

quizzical 2008-08-23 01:54:02 PM
I think once the media broke the story, they felt like they had to send out the text message earlier then planned to try to keep the "first to know!" promise to supporters.

/Didn't sign up for the text message

Alphax 2008-08-23 02:12:37 PM
If you got the text message from Obama, you ASKED for it. I asked for the email instead. Not that the text message would have woken me up. I barely notice it going off if it's in my pocket.

steveo: Do they not make cell phones with "off" buttons anymore?

A lot of people only have a cell phone now. Do you really turn off all your phones, unplug your land line, etc etc, when you go to bed?

Funny picture. Let's analyze, shall we?

If Obama were the one saying the teleprompter line, I'm OK with that -- because more than likely he wrote the words that show up on it.

In McCain's case, however, it's more likely it was written by one of his advisers, who is more than likely a lobbyist on the payroll of a foreign government.

Satanic_Hamster: Do you really turn off all your phones, unplug your land line, etc etc, when you go to bed?

Nice argument. Really. I mean, stupendous. Because going around your house and unplugging all your phones on your land line is exactly the same has clicking the volume button on your cell a few times. Exactly. You sir are a genius.

Satanic_Hamster 2008-08-24 01:21:57 PM
That doesn't answer the question, Stevearino. Do you turn off / unplug / turn off the volume on all your landlines when you go to bed?

I'm guessing... No. Because you expect people who are calling you on any phone at 3 am to have a good reason for it.

steveo 2008-08-24 11:38:06 PM
Satanic_Hamster: That doesn't answer the question, Stevearino. Do you turn off / unplug / turn off the volume on all your landlines when you go to bed?

Perhaps you missed the part where I ridiculed this really stupid comparison?

I'm guessing... No. Because you expect people who are calling you on any phone at 3 am to have a good reason for it.

Actually, I have no phone in my bedroom. If someone were to call at 3 am I wouldn't hear it.

But, again, we're not talking about land lines. We're talking about cell phones. So you can make all the land line-based arguments you want, the fact remains cell phones can be turned off/down/left in another room. Nobody's forcing you to put it under your pillow to be awoken at 3am by a text message you asked to get.

Satanic_Hamster 2008-08-25 07:51:11 AM
Ah, the good 'ole "biatches had it coming" argument.
