"I don't like it. I'm a peace maker. (But) this story empowers the PUMA crowd because they see this, and I do too, as ... breaking Senator Obama's word."

Does anyone have a link to the story where Obama promised Hillary the VP slot?

If she was on the short list, does that mean that she was presumed to be the selection? She was dead meat as soon as he quit! He could not afford her, and Bill, to be any part of the face of his administration, should he even get elected.

I love to see the Dems implode over these two idiots!

And lo, there was much screeching and gnashing of teeth, and the run on the delis for cheesecake spun the very Earth out of its heavenly orbit.

Ya know, maybe they wouldn't be so "outraged" if their candidate hadn't dropped out of the race in the first place.

But logic and politics have never mixed, and never will.

Yeah, they're all flattened by the news, I'm sure. I guess Obama can kick those 20 votes behind.

Did you read the article? They're upset because Obama said "Hillary would be on anyone's short list" and word leaked out that she wasn't vetted (i.e. considered) for the position.

The point is he obviously didn't consider Hillary for the position even though he said he would.

/I wouldn't have picked her either
//Hillary or Edwards might have made me consider voting for McCain

I'm sure he considered her... for about six seconds. Then he broke into a fit of uncontrollable laughter.

If cheesecakers want someone to be pissed at, look no further than William Jefferson Clinton. There was no way in hell Hillary was passing the vetting process with that enormous albatross chained around her neck. Apparently over the last decade, his Giveafark filter has degraded to the point that the man is a walking PR disaster waiting to happen.

No amount of consideration would have been enough.

Considering her for six seconds is six seconds too long. He played politics and said he'd consider her, then didn't. I don't blame him for not even thinking about it... but he shouldn't have said it either. It was the politically correct (in the true sense) thing to say, though.

He could have at least pretended if he's going to say it. Whatever, I'm just glad Hillary isn't going to be the VP.

yes.

Are you saying its "The point" or the PUMA's point?

Truthiness [TotalFark] 2008-08-23 06:53:09 AM
I think the likely scenario went something like this...

Obama: Should I look at Hillary as a running mate?
Obama staffer: Did you forget the 49 folder of dirt and gaffes we picked up on Hillary when we vetted her during the primary? And the 715 on Bill?

It's as if the Hillary-ites wanted Obama to ask Hillary for the files he already had to vet her...and then thumb through them one more time before realizing there was no way in hell.

Amazing how Hillary's supporters are less outraged about this:

Republican presidential candidate John McCain, looking to improve his standing with the party's conservative voters, said the law that legalized abortion should be overturned.
"I do not support Roe versus Wade. It should be overturned," the Arizona senator on Sunday told about 800 people in South Carolina, one of the early voting states.

Probably because they realize it's pure lip-service and a single president doesn't have a chance in hell of getting Roe v. Wade over turned. Why be afraid of something that will never happen?

Yeah, because single-issue wedge voters are typically rational and reasoned when someone attacks their specific wedge issue.

What do you think the response would be if Obama said, "As president, I will make overturning D.C.-vs-Heller a top priority."?

Prospero424 [TotalFark] 2008-08-23 07:41:42 AM
Oh, please. Even if Obama HAD picked Hillary, these people still would have found some half-assed reason to vote McCain.

They rode on Hillary's name for the primary purpose of trying to hurt Obama. Actually supporting her was a secondary concern.

He could have paid all her debts and crowned her Queen of England and you'd still hear an anemic screech of "misogynist!" from all two dozen PUMA media whores.

now see...even though I agree with keeping abortion legal but personally abhor the practice THAT is the fundamental flaw. Roe v. Wade isn't a law...its a decision that ruled a law unconstitutional. It also said we have some nebulous "right to privacy" that doesn't seem to exist for anything else. Warrantless wiretaps? sure no problem. Health Records? hey, why not. Overweight? better cut down on the cupcakes fatty or we will penalize you. Drugs? Get your scheduled cop beat down and jail time over here please.

Roe v. Wade makes the argument that there is a right to privacy and government can't tell us what to do with our bodies....and yet that premise ONLY holds true for one specific medical procedure and for one instance and group of people.

Exactly! Even if Obama doesn't SAY it, some pro-gun organization will run ads claiming that that's a reason to vote against him.

That is the single best argument against Roe v. Wade I think I've ever heard. You make some very good points... Though in honesty, I'm for extending that right of privacy.

/A person should have a god given right to do whatever they want with thier own body, even if it's harmful and self-destructive. The Government doesn't *own* me.

Granted, Republicans have been making this false promise for decades, but do you think maybe this "pure lip service" might influence McCain's potential nominees for the Supreme Court?

/Plus, I heard that Obama is pro-infanticide, and if elected he will personally murder random babies on live TV just to show how powerful he is. I read that on a Freeper thread.
