(MSNBC) Obvious If the coolness of the bands scheduled to play at the conventions is any indication of success then the Democrats are ahead by a landslide. Seriously Sen. McCain the Beach Boys? What was Andy Williams too edgy for you?   (msnbc.msn.com) divider line 144

Exactly -- I was going to commend the R's for only taking 20 years to finally embrace the white-hot controversy and rebellion that is a Beach Boys concert.

Ugh. Compared to Rage Against the Machine and Fallout Boy, the Beach Boys sound delightful.

Aren't most of them dead? Isn't it just Mike Love and friends?

Looking at the list I'm gonna have to say most of them are shiat.
Willie Nelson, Melissa Etheridge, Cyndi Lauper, Rufus Wainwright, Fall Out Boy, Rage Against the Machine (so anti-establishment they got back together because they were poor) Jakob Dylan (Rebel, Sweetheart was amazing but solo stuff is boring)

By the same token, the band that Axl Rose is fronting currently might be called Guns n' Roses, but it isn't the same band that made Appetite for Destruction.

This Beach Boys is the band responsible for Kokomo.

Beach boys even ten years ago, maybe. But not now. No. Please God, no. Sometimes, dead is better.

Would pay a lot to see Brian Wilson play and sing, though, the guy is like an American Mozart of our age.

Most music in general sucks goatnuts. It's just that the goatnutsucking bands of Denver are observably more interesting and entertaining than the goatnutsucking bands of Minneapolis.

The "Punk Rock 2008" show is today, btw, so that's kinda sucky... but the lineup is NOFX, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Bouncing Souls, Circle Jerks, Street Dogs and Frontside Five. Looks like a fun show, and it's free apparently. At Red Rocks. In 3 hours from now. Lucky Denverites. Not sure you can call it part of the DNC Convention though.

Aww...isn't that cute? The concern trolls are concerned.

And let's check whom the Democrats have on their list....

Willie Nelson? Are you farking kidding me?

Rage Against the Machine? Oh, good, a band that hates America. That'll go over real well and win some undecided votes for you. Damn, you people really are among the most politically ignorant on the planet.

"Naughty Pierre's Burlesque and Comedy Extravaganza," "Sex, Politics, and Cocktails Late Night Dance Party" organized by Planned Parenthood.

Um, yeah. Good luck with that.

And I thought having the Beach Boys at the convention was a mistake. Just wow.

I'll tell you what's dead. Vaudeville! You know what killed it? The talking pictures, but you can still make it, kid, you just gotta have a gimmick. I for one am a tumbler, here watch my round off... hey kiddo be a sport, take the pills out of my pocket and put one under my tongue?

As far as I can tell, they're playing in Denver; they're not playing "the convention."

And I'm sure that RATM's appearance there isn't going to sway swing/undecided voters one way or the other.

It's not like Betty Lou in Trailer Park, AL is gonna go, "Rage? Don't they have that song about Monkeys and Radio or something? Yeah, that tears it! I'm voting for Ulysses S. Grant John McCain!"

FAIL

Rage is not playing at the convention. They are playing outside like they did in 2004. They will playing outside the Republican convention as well.
