On social issues...not so much. Obama is more socially liberal so I'll probably vote for him.

The McCains increased their budget for household employees from $184,000 in 2006 to $273,000 in 2007, according to John McCain's tax returns...

...That's right. The McCains pay $270,000 per year for butlers and maids--that's $50,000 more than the median value of an American home.

Unfortunately this is one Clinton/ McCain talking point that has stuck to Obama, despite his best efforts at hitting it head on by releasing all sorts of specific plans, position papers, etc. Most voters are too stupid or lazy to look to see if a candidate has spoken on an issue, so if the media and the attack ads say he is all style and no substance they just accept that.

Hopefully during the presidential debates Obama will finally put this to rest. I'm eager to watch the comparison between Obama's eloquent responses and McCain's stuttering, blinking confusion. The debates are what allowed Obama to beat Clinton (reject AND denounce!) and it's what will win him the general election.

Close on foreign policy? McCain was calling for lines of tanks to be sent rolling towards Baghdad within weeks of 9/11, and his haphazard saber-rattling on the Georgia/Russia conflict is frankly a little frightening. I'm not really sure that we need ol' Flys-off-the-handle-if-he-doesn't-get-his-Metamucil-on-time Johnny with his finger on the button.

It won't change anything. See how the freepers are STILL going on with that 'fact' that Obama is a Muslim and not US born? There is nothing that Obama could say that they will ever agree with him. If he said that water is wet, they'll deny it and take another stance. They will never be happy.

I've had this argument with my father within the last few months. I finally figured out how to get through to the people that won't vote Dem if you threaten them with castration: give them options. I finally said, "Look, McCain is Bush round 3, and you know it. If you don't want to vote Obama, vote for Bob Barr." Since then, my dad's actually been considering voting Libertarian.

Remember, McCain is just as odious to the anti-Dems as he is to the Dems and actual Independents. Use this. Remind them that they have an option, and that a vote for Bob Barr is a vote that tells both D and R to go fark themselves.

But when it comes to war policy, he says McCain has a better approach than Obama - a sentiment also reflected in the poll, where voters gave McCain the edge by 10 percentage points.

It would probably be higher, if he could figure out which group to bomb...

I think the concern for most people after this administration is we want more "how" and less "what" when it comes to policy.

HOW are you going to pull that troop plan you have off? Do you foresee the possible negative repercussions (and what are they) or should we just accept it is the right thing to do?

HOW is the tax plan you are describing both going to create/keep jobs and stay in budget? Do you foresee the possible negative repercussions (and what are they) or should we just accept it is the right thing to do?

It simply isn't enough for either candidate to say "I am for x" or that "I will increase y to z". We want to know how, how much, and that you though this through. We are information consumers now.

I don't think either candidate is doing that enough and Obama will continue to take flack because he is creating an aura of solution while offering no more real subtantive "hows" and "though the challenge will be"s than McCain.

And really, what a wonderful analogy for politics. Presented only with a box full of turds of all shapes, sizes, and smells, voters are given the task of choosing the least offensive, odorous, and watery piece of shiat from the lot.

Which would include Obama. Obama's plan does nothing for the McCain family. One candidate is for lowering taxes for his opponent. The other will make his opponent and his family pay 3/4 of a million more per year in taxes.

It's been a while since I checked, but during the primaries, Obama's website was War & Peace, while McCain's (and most other candidates') was the brochure on cataracts you look through at the optometrist's office because you're bored.

Obama's was chock full of fairly specific information and plans that made a coherent whole, while McCain's was full of contradictory bulletpoints like:

- Expand the army! 5 more ships for the navy!
- Cut taxes!
- We can't cut anything else until all pork is out of the budget, and cutting that pork will balance the budget, PORK PORK PORK!

That's pretty good. Needs more freedom, though.

'Today, Barrack Hussein Obama was speaking to his adorning worshipers and mentioned this line: '...like how water is wet....' Ladies and gentlemen of this great patriotic country, Mr. Obama has now started talking down to this great freedom-loving populace as if you are all imbeciles. To think this democrat doesn't believe that we the people do not understand that water is wet. He talks about 'change' and 'believe,' but apparently he does not 'believe' that we are intelligent. To use that line is an insult to the great minds of this free country AND the patriots that died to defend our blessed land from evil. They DIED so the common American can get an education and learn that water is wet.

'BUT....this liberal believes that we as a great patriotic country cannot educate ourselves on this fact and needs to teach us himself. He spits on the blessed patriots' graves that worked so hard to shape this great country. How elitist of him! Believing that we can only learn when he speaks. Do him and his inflated, arrogant celebrity-ego really believe that just because he says something, it will be true? He want you to cut-and-run from the library and instead feed you his own 'facts.'

'Ladies and gentlemen of this great freedom-loving country that God blesses everyday, this man does not believe that you are smart enough to open a book and to see that you can educate yourself that water is indeed wet. He insults your intelligence. So please, America, land that we love, show him how smart we are by NOT voting for this ni..nigh and mighty empty suit. Stay the course! Prove to us that water is wet and Osama is bad. God bless America!'

/OK, I may have overdid it.

And just for the major say, top 8 issues.
