FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFfarkKKKKKKKKKKKKKK.

DMB was a big part of my adolescence, I'll admit it no matter how Unpopular On The Internet™ they are. Leroi Moore had a real unique sound.

HomerSamson113 [TotalFark] 2008-08-19 10:58:44 PM
Say what you want about DMB, but they are a damn talented group of musicians, whether you enjoy their particular brand of sound or not.

LeRoi was no exception to that.

Damn shame.

RIP, man...

His ashes will be flushed down the toilet of a bus and dumped on the fine citizens of Chicago.

RIP, Saxyman.

I'm surprised he lasted this long while having to listen to Dave sing night after night after night. The band is awesome, Dave is replaceable.

I am very saddened by this news. Roi was by far one of my favorite musicians.

MagusMcCormick 2008-08-19 11:09:25 PM
I guess from heaven we all look like ants marching to him....I wonder....what would he say? Theres far too much space between is now that he's gone....Im just glad he didnt crash into me with that ATV....

UGrabMyDrumstick 2008-08-19 11:11:42 PM
RIP. These guys got me through some tough times in college and high school, and regardless of what anyone else thinks of them, they'll always hold special memories for me. Roi was the best instrumental musician in the band.

Here's hoping he's up there jamming with Hendrix, George Harrison, Miles Davis and John Coltrane.

herndona 2008-08-19 11:11:52 PM

I know there's a lot of hate for DMB, but they are a group of damn fine musicians. The world can never have too many good musicians.

RIP, musicman. Godspeed.

Very sad. I saw several DMB shows back when I was in HS and college, and LeRoi was a tremendous sax player, big part of why I liked the band to begin with.

RIP.

Krayz 2008-08-19 11:23:10 PM
Lot of attention whore retards in this thread. LeRoi was a damn fine musician and for assholes on the internet to be making jabs at his death pisses me off.

/yeah I know don't feed the trolls.

Why don't you actually read the thread dumbass. Everyone here has been giving their regrets. I don't like the band but a fellow musician is dead younger than he should be. Not cool.

Now the TF discussion on the other hand isn't so nice.

Quel [TotalFark] 2008-08-19 11:27:43 PM
IMO, DMB went downhill when they released that craptastic album Everyday and didn't put much emphasis on LeRoi and the string player. I grew up listening to them and playing saxophone, so I always liked him. Kind of sucks.

Wight Power [TotalFark] 2008-08-19 11:27:55 PM
Wow... That sucks.

I kinda fell out of love with this band over the last few years but this is really unexpected and sad. I've seen these guys live twice. He was always the "cool, background man" of the group who would come in with a sweet sax solo out of no where. Dave, Boyd, Carter and Stefan were really lively during the shows I saw; then, slowly, the spotlight would fade in to LeRoi (their lighting crew is amazing) and he always delivered.

I don't remember what song it was but he would throw in "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" during a jam that was simply awesome.

RIP music man. You were awesome.

I'm not sure where he did that but he usually threw in a line or two from "If I Only Had a Brain" near the end of "Bartender"

Rest in peace, LeRoi.

Dear Jerk 2008-08-19 11:37:54 PM
LeRoi Moore, is that you?
I thought your post-hangin days were through,
Sunk-in eyes and full of sighs,
Tell no lies, you get wise,
I tell you now were gonna pull you through,
Theres only one thing left that we can do.

We gotta get you a woman,
Its like nothin else to make you feel sure you're alive.
Oh wait. Nevermind.

katastrophe [TotalFark] 2008-08-19 11:38:24 PM
I am admittedly not much of a Dave Matthews Band fan, but LeRoi was undoubtedly extremely talented as a musician, and it is tragic that he has died at such a young age. Very sad, surprising news, regardless of whether you are a fan of the band or not. Rest in peace, LeRoi.

jimb213 2008-08-19 11:41:02 PM
I'm with a lot of people here that don't like DMB's later stuff, but I think their 1st four albums are freaking amazing (remember two things through before these crowded streets). They were one of my favorite bands from mid-high school through when they released everyday. As a bass player, they still have my favorite rhythm section playing today.

That's really sad that he went out so young. My condolences to his friends, family, and bandmates.

Farkomatic 2008-08-19 11:49:39 PM
He pretty much blew anyhow.
