I sometimes wonder if I'll find out about my uncle being found in AK on Fark. He went down in a chopper in '77 while flying for an oil company. He made it through Vietnam after flying 25+ flights over hostile territory, and ended up dying before his life really got started.

Leonid: are all Van Zandts doomed to die in plane crashes?

I am only aware of one Van Zandt who died in a plane crash. How does that lead to all Van Zandts being doomed?

Also, I gotta say, connecting Springsteen to this story is a bit of a stretch, Subby.

Not related. Not a "Van Zandt".

A lowercase "d" is hardly a big deal when you are screaming into the ground at 600 mph. He was merely showing his solidarity by nodding. He wasn't claiming to be the man's kin, just acknowledging a brother in arms.

Oh no, I know who he is and what his relationship to Springsteen is. He's not dead, much less dead from a plane crash. I just think that trying to connect the IDed man to Springsteen is grasping at straws just because they share a surname, particularly when from what I can find, that's his stepfather's surname, not his birth name.

While no gold was found, the two commercial airline pilots who discovered the wreckage found themselves on a scientific adventure filled with high-tech sleuthing.

Yeah that's what I say, "We found no gold".

Who knew zombies could do forensics? Maybe that's why they need to eat brains.

The bodies were too degraded to even harvest a good DNA sample, but they still felt the need to embalm them? Mummies don't really need embalming. What a waste of time and money!
