Good riddance. I haven't been arrested to date, but that's no thanks to Tequila.

As long as Herradura stays in business I'll be happy. I'd rather have Herradura silver than anything with the cuervo name on it.

(Might as well get the flames started)

I like agave cactus juice. It's difficult to find in non-fermented form.

Interesting, because agave nectar is growing in popularity due to its low sucrose content (it's very sweet, but comparatively safe for diabetics)...

yes, I know - I didn't mention tequila.

I don't care what kind, as long as it's 100% from agave, not 51% agave and 49% cheap-ass vodka.

If you make it to the bottom of a bottle of mezcal you not only wont care what is lingering at the bottom, you wont be able to taste it, remember it, breath, escape sans brain damage.

Tequilla is something I love dearly and drink seldomly. For a good reason.

I'll never forget the friendly neighborhood campfire where my 72-year-old neighbor brought over a bottle and we both finished it off. Later that night, I awoke, feeling grass on my face...

/awesome aftertaste, though

Thank you for the warning. I will start stockpiling in preparation

Is there anything the agave can't do?

ubett 2008-08-17 06:15:44 PM
Maybe I just started paying attention to it, but it seems like that last 10 years have brought a tremendous number of really good tequila brands to the shelves. For the most part, as long as it's 100% agave, you should be just fine.

Tequila certainly isn't for everybody, but if you think Cuervo Gold is an example of a good tequila, you should try an aged premium tequila (patron, chinaco, casa noble, etc.) just to appreciate the difference. In my experience, too much of the cheap stuff can ruin the next day or two. The same amount of good tequila has nowhere near the same effects.

I spend like $150 a month on Tequila. Yes, I drink a lot. Yes, I like Tequila too much.

Tequila + beer.. great combo.. no, not mixed.. Tequila shot, then drink a beer.. and repeat..

Tequila is the ONLY liqour that will mix with beer without giving you a hangover.

growing corn takes nitrogen and other nutrients out of the soil. it is a slippery slope my friend. agave doesn't need nearly as good soil afaik. if you have great soil plant corn and rotate your crop [and know how to do it] but if you don't corn isn't gonna grow in the clay like soil agave does.

Stupid congresscritters...quit stealing my money for the express purpose of driving up the prices of my precious Hornitos. I've already had to step down to 1800, if I can't afford that anymore I might just have to go crazy.

I love tequila, but I hate apologizing the next day, so I quit drinking the stuff. You know how some people say that whiskey makes them mean, vodka makes them horny? Tequila does all of those to me, at the same time.

TheSilverOne 2008-08-17 06:29:30 PM
As long as the rum is safe.

No, I'm not trying to make a Pirates reference, if the rum goes, I'll start shooting people.

Well that kills my favorite pick-up lines. Better start looking for new man-bait. :(

Haha. Stupid-expensive tequila is nice for sipping but everything under utter top-shelf tastes oily.

When there's wind of a whisky shortage I'll start filling 50 gallon barrels.

Hornitos, truly the Tequila to drink, I'll step down to Conmemorativo... but never to any Cuervo product.

Saw too much of that for $5.00 a gallon in Mexico.

Vast herds of them have been spotted writhing northward toward the border. Many will replace the fecal matter found in Coors and Budweiser.

Crap. I like good tequila (partial to reposados). Bottled tequila only lasts about ~7ish years too, so this could be a problem.

Scotch is for sippin and enjoying on your own, with a book, or perhaps with one good old friend.

Beer is for parties and get togethers with people you don't know that well like the office party, or a frat party.

Tequila is for getting drunk as snot with people you know and love, or people you want to know and love.

This, except it's usually 49% rum. No wonder the hangover is so bad.
