The picture looks like they sent a speaker on top of a rolling table into space. Hmmm We can probably learn a lot from this.

Based on the picture, they've mastered solid AND liquid fuel technology in one go?

Or did Thiokol sell them extra Shuttle SRB parts?

Good thing they put wheels on it so that the orbit will be a bit smoother.

The message said the launching marks the second instance of successful tentative firing of such rockets (may God hasten its reentry).

Okay, so I edited that a bit (may God hasten my next paycheck) ;)

It appears that they sent up some kind of water heater & speakers. If that doesn't make God hasten the reappearance of Hazrat Mahdi then I don't know what will.

Did you guys notice you can send them comments. AS a bonus you can just make up an E-mail address and it will accept the comments. Have fun I know I am.

Do you think Iran is going to use real Photoshop?
I'm calling MS Paint, GIMP, or Photoshop 7 Kazaa edition at best.

If you use Firefox you can disable that. Look for Enable Javascript in the Preference and then ADVANCED settings.

Here's a better picture of the rocket (new window)in question, nothing on the sattelite yet.

Yeah, it's an old picture, want to fight about it?

I'm going to guess it blows itself up near other satellites.

I may be going out on a limb here.

Did anyone notice that the "solid rocket boosters" on either side of the "external tank" are not even identicle? One appears to be a Minuteman missile, the other is a Soviet-era SS-who-knows (obviously not to scale, whatever the common scale of this menagerie is).

/face palm totally insufficient

Who cares, they're still years behind us in the space race. In fact, as soon as we finish the SS life support, we'll win a space race victory within 20 turns. Pussies.

Congratulations for reaching the 1950s Iran. :) Watch out for the 60s though, that civil rights things is gonna suck pretty bad for the whole Islam thing.

So along with all the usual space junk, future space missions will have to watch out for loose carpet fibers.
