Pre meditated police brutality. I hope they sue the city into bankruptcy and the cops involved get an assrape train every day they are in the pen. They are criminals and absolutely out of control.

Who hasn't made this mistake before? Honestly.

God, no one thought to read the warrant first? They were just asking for a lawsuit, there. Good lord. Glad I don't live in the city anymore.

I do that at least twice a week just trying to get home from the Bar.

To be fair, they will be suspended for a week with pay while they do the "investigation."

The guy in charge will. Not the whole group.

Thankfully all my experiences with the police have been pleasant enough (even with the cop who pulled me over because they were looking for "some Mexican guy"). And I'm sure most of them are all right.

That being said, in a just system, these guys would be nailed to the wall in the most public, humiliating manner possible, and then sent to jail for a few years to think real hard. Of course, the best you'll get is maybe a settlement for a few thousand and some bona-fide creeps who will still get to carry a gun and a badge.

I'm sorry... have you not been paying attention? The justice system isn't just when police are the perpetrators.

I wish it were, believe me. But the way things are right mow, you're more likely to have a troop of flying purple monkeys come shooting out of your tuchus.

Oh, adding insult to injury, here's the capper to the whole thing:

FTFA: Police said no arrests were made in the subsequent raid at the upstairs apartment.

I just noticed that technically it was a shotgun-butt not a rifle butt.

/butt.

R.A.Danny: Pre meditated police brutality.

No, it wasn't pre-meditated police brutality. We are dealing with bad cops here but I don't think they went to the lower apartment to hurt anyone. Accidentally breaking down the wrong door doesn't equal pre-meditated police brutality, though I'd say this does sound like police brutality.

FuturePastNow [TotalFark] 2008-08-17 02:55:04 AM
At least they didn't have any pets for the police to shoot.

This seems to keep happening. I wonder where the line is?

Churchill2004 [TotalFark] 2008-08-17 03:52:25 AM
These stupid, needless paramilitary raids shouldn't be happening at all, even if it is the right house, unless there is an immediate danger to some one. Home raids are an excuse for police to display all the brutality, arrogance, and needless confrontation that have come to define the institutional culture of law enforcement in this country.

For Christ's sake, just wait for your target to leave the house! Unless you're going after your target for a non-crime like drug possession, in which case you should just leave him the fark alone altogether.

And by that you mean you hope they'll get suspended with pay and the chief will issue an apology before putting the cops back on the street, right? That's what I thought you meant.

I've heard of police dogs and police horses, but now they've got buffalo police?! And they're using rams, too? I guess it makes sense to send in animals when they're trying to prevent people from chasing the dragon.

Maybe there is no real crime going on, and the cops are all bored & need some "live practice" so they "accidentally" raid the "wrong" houses...

nah, they're just idiots.

Sue the city into bankruptcy, you say? You forget, this is Buffalo, NY. It's already pretty much bankrupt. Great city, nice people, practically Canadian, but one thing we don't have is money. And these raids seem to happen all the time. I've relocated to Ohio (stupid mistake, after heading out here for the schoolin') and it seems that each time I've been home and head out to Flying Bison Brewery for a growler the 'po are everywhere: pulling people over, running pell-mell through the pseudo-projects down there, and generally making life hell for the junkies who have nothing better to do in a dying city. Thanks, you badged assholes, for further blackening the eyes of a once-great city.

If just one of the idiots running for president would question the usefulness of the war on drugs they would immediately get my vote.

Same goes for any other politician. But other than Ron Paul I don't see anyone with any guts or imagination.

/I wish many more Americans would get their door kicked in and get terrorized. Maybe then we wouldn't have so many idiots who still support the war on drugs.

They will surely get medals for their excellent job and brave response even though it was the wrong house. That is how the PR gurus spin it.

/accountability is absent from the police

"We wouldn't be comfortable discussing the internal investigation," Richards said. "We can say comfortably that over 1,100 search warrants were executed last year and 580 to date this year and that, with such a high volume and such a fast-paced environment, it is understandable that mistakes could happen."

When you consider a paramilitary-style raid on innocent people to be an acceptable mistake, you are no longer any kind of public servant. You are a threat more serious than the criminals you claim to fight against.

tetsoushima 2008-08-17 09:00:55 AM
"They know they did something wrong and they were still ignorant," said the 29-year-old Pennyamon. "At first, I just wanted an apology. Now, because they want[ed] to be ignorant and rude, I have to take it to the next level."
Seriously, if I busted into an apartment and heard somebody talking like this, I would be tempted to crack somebody's head open too.

Maybe the people there had time to get away or flush the evidence? That's the reason for breaking down the door and using overwhelming force.

Stupid mistake by the cops this time though.

No word of the Buffalo dept. footing the bill for the damage (even just the physical damage to the house and that dude's arm).

Lame. I'm sure a white family would have been treated better.

They should be thankful that they werent shot then tased. They keep that complaining crap up and they will get another raid. The next raid I guarantee they will find drugs. Lots of drugs.

No obvious tag?

Maybe there needs to be a "Typical Police Behaviour" or "Police State" tag.
