If Hawaii becomes its own kingdom before November, what happens to Presidential candidates born there?

Snarfangel: If Hawaii becomes its own kingdom before November, what happens to Presidential candidates born there?

Some of these people already claim Barack was born in the "Kingdom of Hawaii."

I, for one, am all for giving part of the state back as long as they promise to build some casinos, cuz man, airfare to Vegas ain't cheap these days.

I don't know. Probably the same thing that happens to Presidential candidates born in the Panama Canal Zone now that it has reverted back to Panamanian control.

I wonder how long the kingdom of Hawaii could defend it's sovereignty without the US?

They run for president of Hawaii?

Kumana Wanalaia: I wonder how long the kingdom of Hawaii could defend it's sovereignty without the US?

Right, because Hawaii is surrounded by hostile powers on all sides.

The story of how Hawaii came to be a US possession isn't exactly the sort of thing that makes me proud to be an American, but at the same it's clear the vast majority of Hawaiians actually alive today support US statehood.

When will someone finally brighten up and start charging all of these farkwads with treason?
Treason and sedition during a time of war? That's a hanging!

/Lived in Hawaii for 13 years.
//Will never go back due to the racist farks that live there.

Revisionist history, as usual.

"Queen Lil" was deposed because she opposed the handover of Hawa'ii's natural resources and land to foreign speculators and profiteers, who proceeded to line their pockets at the expense of the locals, and the environment in which they had lived harmoniously for over 2,000 years.

Then as now, money talks and BS walks, so it was no trouble at all to get a gang of thugs to arrest her on trumped-up charges, and throw her out of power.

In reality she was a good monarch, who only wanted the best for her people.

Wonder when Russia will give US an ultimatum not to meddle in the affairs of Hawaii? (Like we do about Georgia/Ossetia)

As far as the presidential candidate supposedly born in Hawaii, even if he WERE born there, supposedly his mother wouldn't have met the requirements herself. (She has to be 19, I believe with like 6 years in the country) Which she did NOT have by any one's accounts.

Try THIS Link (new window)

Click under "Queen Lil and President Dole."

That should take you there, but if not, google "Queen Lil" for the whole story.

Uhh no.
She was captured, taken to a (really nice) PoW camp and told that she had two choices.
Either she surrenders her nation, or we go to war.
Seeing as how her people were so primitive that they NEVER EVEN HAD A WRITTEN LANGUAGE and were running around with hide shields and wooden sticks for weaponry... she wisely chose to surrender in order to save her people from anihiliation.

Why don't we just get rid of the hawaiians and replace them with our own people? :D

"aevum," click on the link and read the article.

The whole thing was about money, pure and simple.

Do you really think we would be fighting in Iraq right now, if they were the world's main producer of kumquats?

Probably for a lot of the same reasons that a majority of those in Northern Ireland favor British rule and those in Ossetia favor Russian rule.

Yeah, good luck with that. Let em all go back, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam. And whatever other grass skirt wearing fark wants to go with them. We can sit on the side and watch as they slide down to 3rd world status.

Your post isn't entirely correct. Hawaiian was given a written form by the missionaries who arrived here in the 1820's, and the Kingdom operated with English and Hawaiian as dual official languages. As for weapons, the Kingdom had no organized military (although King David Kalakaua did try to form a small navy), unless you counted the police and the palace guard. Combined, they had enough force to resist the marines that were landed from the USS Boston when the overthrow took place, but that would've meant antagonizing the United States, and there's no way that could've ended well.

Aevum 2008-08-16 09:32:26 PM
"olddinosaur" try living in Hawaii for a large portion of your life.
I have heard every bullshiat story that the "Hawaiian nation" retards and the apologists have come up with and none of them are true.
If you want the honest truth, it was a combination of money, politics, power-greed, and military tactics.

They lost their land to a heavily dominant power and they gather as a people to continue their suffering to this day.

Three of the group's members began slamming the gate on her, trying to push her out, she said.

She called out for help to a nearby police officer, who told her it was not his jurisdiction, she said.

The palace is on state grounds, outside of HPD jurisdiction.

Unbelievable.
So the next time I'm at Iolani Palace I can pull down a little boy's pants and start raping him right in front of a cop who will just glance over and say "Not my jurisdiction brah" and walk off? A woman was having a gate slammed on her for Christs sake. Do your f-ing job and protect and serve.

Sure, I dealt with quite a few growing up there, but most people weren't like that.

Whaaa, Such is the story of mankind. Some of the countries that we recognize today might not be here in 1 year, the U.S., Russia, China, could be gone in less than 100 years (ok, not China, there is a Billion of those Chi-Com bastards.

Actually, you'd have to worry about the state sheriffs or officers from the Department of Land and Natural Resources hauling you off, just not HPD. Considering the former also provides security for the Capitol (which is right next door), I imagine their response time would be even faster.

(That still doesn't change the fact the HPD guy was an idiot for not stepping in when someone was being threatened, though.)

The US didn't unite the islands, they annexed them. But hey, while we're taking historical events out of context and citing "eye for an eye," how about we just write off 9/11 as being payback for the Crusades?
