Wait until the government takes it from him because its state property.

Cousins? As in plural?

Oh, dude, you found my diamond, thanks. Thanks for doing the right thing.

FTA:
"The park is the only diamond mine in North America where the public can search for diamonds and other gems and keep them."

Cut
Color
Carat
Clarity

A good sized diamond is worth a lot more if the other factors are of high quality.

No, you can keep anything you find at Crater of Diamonds.

I've actually been there once, on a school trip. It was incredibly boring.

There, what you did, see I.

I only get my diamonds from Ronnie Mervis.

Nope that's De Beers' job.

That would be so cool!

You wouldn't be saying that if you'd found thousands of dollars worth of gems.

Is there admission or something?

jackandwater 2008-08-16 10:49:11 PM
I can't speak for all women, but my best friend takes "AA" batteries and doesn't have anything to do with cut, color, carat or clarity. ;)

SeedyROM 2008-08-16 10:49:56 PM
Just AA?

Prospect... I get it. Good one.

Yeah, I am too cheap to buy the plug in kind.

Not your every day discovery. I didn't think natural diamonds were found on the surface.

It was under $5 last time I went.

The dude spends 3 or 4 days a week looking for diamonds at the park. What's the opportunity cost of a dumbass decision like that?

I spent the night in Arkansas yesterday, so I'm really getting a kick...

/only thing I found was cheap beers and some skanky prostitutes standing on the street corner. Dixon Street FTW!

Haoie: Not your every day discovery. I didn't think natural diamonds were found on the surface.

At Crater of Diamonds, they routinely till the soil to try to churn those diamonds around. You could, theoretically, find a diamond lying on the ground. However, the chances are better of winning the lottery.

Most of the really good diamond-hunters find a single spot, dig for years, and run everything through a sluice. The regulars all know each other. They certainly can't make a living at it, though.

Mine is run on a Die Hard truck battery, and has numerous harnesses and a series of handles.

That's no diamond, that's part of Vince Fosters skull, left there before the Clintons moved his body.

That's the one I mean... I'm not a local, so forgive the misspelling.

I've been gem mining before. It was boring and dirty, but we found some decent sized rubies.

Chariset [TotalFark] 2008-08-16 11:23:47 PM
I've been there. There are people who do it as a hobby/part-time job. Some of them have little fenced-off areas on the side where they store their gear. I met a man last spring who brought custom equipment and packed all his gravel home to sift with a blacklight. He had two or three little diamonds in a glass vial.

Do you have the name of the manufacturer?

BrotherKalashnikov 2008-08-16 11:40:17 PM
So it's 4.42 Carats till Belgrade?!

/definitely obscure.

ajgeek 2008-08-16 11:42:41 PM
I can't believe I'm the first to say this.

Yeah, pics or it didn't happen.

PfizerX 2008-08-16 11:45:34 PM
Yes, the manufacturer's name is "Frank" (though, because of his cleft palate, he pronounces it "Fwaank") and he lives in the basement of the Piggly Wiggly.

cksewell [TotalFark] 2008-08-16 11:46:35 PM
4.42 carat? Wow. I wonder if he'll sell it. I would....because sheesh it is really just a rock.

Siamese twins...it's very popular there to get sewn together so that incest becomes just plain ol' masturbating...

The rock lottery.

I've been there too, didn't find anything... but the lady digging in front of my found a nice size yellow diamond. It was like if you were playing slots and the person next too you wins a millon bucks. Pisses you off.

Having lived in Murfreesboro for a couple of years as a kid, I'm getting a kick out of this thread. Not much else to do there other than the diamond mine.

Yeah...nobody really likes the person that wins. You cheer for them and say, "good job" but deep down you hate them and wish they would DIAF.

I saw this place on "Cash and Treasures" on the Travel Channel. Looked kinda cool.

There's also some place in North Carolina where you can do a similar thing, but the gems there are emeralds.

it's powered by a SR-71 motor and uses JP5 for fuel. It uses an 500HP V-8 as a starter.

Maybe the government should take your brain for not RTFA. It says people can keep what they find there.
