I seem to recall some ndotseth-type telling me earlier this week that the GOP and McCain had more money than the Dems and Obama. Of course, that was based on June figures, lol.

Face it, McCainites - your candidate is going to get slaughtered in November. It could be epic.

A couple of weeks ago, that would have been McCainDemocrat.

Anyway, the Republicans as a party have a lot of money compared to the Democratic party, but I doubt that they have that much money.

McCainites

These are the same f*ckstains that hated McCain and cheered the attacks against him when Lord bush needed him out of the way. these drooling jackasses don't care about anything at all except for the (R) after a name. They can pretend all they want, but they are nothing but stupid children.

Don't the McCain people say to give to the GOP so they don't bounce up against the federal limits with matching?

What is the RNC+McCain vs Obama+DNC?

Obama has $68 million cash on hand to McCain's $21 million? Doesn't that mean McCain's burn rate is more than 100%?

Never underestimate the power of stupidity. The trolls here that put on this little act where they say utter stupidity left and right in every thread? There ARE people who think like that for real, and that's the scary part.

When June's numbers came in, Dad was practically dancing in the streets because 'Obama didn't raise as much money as he projected'. I told him to wait and see numbers for July and August and watch for developing trends. He was adamant that Obama was 'doomed' and that McCain would catch up and then beat Obama in the fund raising arena.

I wonder what he'll say to this report...?

I worry about Dad sometimes. He takes an almost vindictive and childish glee in even the most inconsequential and illusory Obama setback. At the same time, he really does believe that McCain is going to win. What's more, he believes that McCain *has* to win. I'm not even sure WHY he believes that either, and he can't seem to explain it to me in any terms i'm able to understand.

I'm not overly fond of Obama, but short of a miracle I think he's going to hand McCain his liver. The Republicans are going to lose this election because of their failed policies and corruption scandals, but none of the leadership seems willing to admit that their impending losses are entirely due to their incompetence.

Weaver95: The Republicans are going to lose this election because of their failed policies and corruption scandals, but none of the leadership seems willing to admit that their impending losses are entirely due to their incompetence.

Hear, hear. I'm hoping the GOP loses so utterly devastatingly that they completely reform - first and foremost by jettisoning their buddy-buddy relationship with the anti-American evangelical social conservatives. This deal with the devil won them more than a few elections, but now it is a massive anchor dragging them down.

There used to be a Republican Party that I could vote for, but by the time I was old enough to cast a ballot, they had been hijacked by the fundies who want to legislate what consenting adults can do in the bedroom. Fk that.

My uncle (and maybe your dad) were once loyal to a party that had meaningful opinions on important issues (whether one agreed with their position or not), now they're the chicken little party, drumming up support with fear tactics..."The gays/libs/feminists/atheists/ACLU/Muslims/candidates named Hussein are destroying God's America." All they do now is create enemies to scare people into voting for them.

It's high time for these jackholes to suffer a humiliating defeat. Hopefully some good will come of it.

My only regret is that we're going to hand the country to the Democrats by default. They didn't earn it, and they will most likely act as if they won the election(s) based on the strength of their ideas. Which won't be true at all, but we'll have to deal with their delusions after we finish punishing the Republicans for their abuses.

The Republicans got in for the same reason, Democratic abuses, not because of their ideas (which, when implemented, proved to be far more pie-in-the-sky than the Democratic ideas. Reality frequently screws up ideas and plans). Circle of life, circle of life.

Of course, there's always the remote possibility that Hillary might try to screw Obama over during the convention. That would help McCain immensely if she caused a split in the party.

The Democrats usually self-implode pretty quickly so I doubt they'll be able to do much damage. Neither Cartner nor Clinton could work effectively with a Democratic Congress. Clinton actually did better with a Republican Congress despite that impeachment thing.

I think we have the same father.

As hard as it is for me to admit, by parents are part of the 23%er crowd, and for no other reason than party loyalty. They'll vote Republican regardless of the candidate. When I told them I was voting for Obama it took 15 minutes to convince them I was serious. Since that time, it's become a constant source of tension. They just can't wrap their heads around the idea. Here's their biggest complaints/reasons for not voting for Obama:

1. Taxes. They honestly think their taxes are going up, even though both of them are retired. No amount of evidence to the contrary can convince them otherwise. Their belief that taxes are going to increase is based off the stance, "That's what Democrats do."

2. Michelle Obama. No conversation about Obama can go longer than 5 minutes before Michelle's "never been proud of America" line comes up. Again, no amount of discussion can calm my father on this matter. He's seized upon that comment in a manner that surprises even me.

3. Muslims/Terror/9-11: My mother uses 9-11 as a catch-all defense for anything Bush does. Bad economy? 9-11. Iraq? 9-11. Just general horrible job as President? He had to contend with 9-11.

My parents are the poster children for the Fox News demographic. Wealthy, white, xenophobic, blindly loyal to the Republican party, and haters of all thinks Democrat. They know nothing about Obama's policies and nothing about McCain's.

If you stuck an (R) behind Obama's name and made him the Republican nominee with the identical platform and positions he has now, they'd vote for him in a heartbeat because that (R) is the only thing that matters to them.

Losing the popular vote, fund raising, delegate count, number of states, number of donors, number of new donors, and then conceding to Obama sure were "inconsequential and illusory" setbacks for Hillary alright. If it makes you feel better, she's already president in her mind.
