Be sure to read the Forward by NoS (and listen to the Hyatte mp3)

Wrestling parody is still real to me, damn it!

Wrestling? OK, see you in ten years.

Suprman37 2008-08-16 03:34:52 PM
Ah, Chris Hyatte. The days of following him around from site to site...

That was only ten years ago?

Please, people, please: Tenth anniversary. It's that easy.

They put Drew in the right type of submission to his liking. Duh. :)

God, i loved the adventures of the NwO B Team!

Scoop This was (and is) an all-time favorite of mine!

Duke_Phillips: ScoopThis is how I found fark in the first place. Oddly enough I had no idea they'd even been around the last..... 7 years or so.

Well according to the "about us" page they haven't. It says there that the site closed in June 2000.

Are they implying that professional wrestling has gay over and undertones? Where would that come from?

Empty Signal Gray 2008-08-16 04:07:26 PM
And why do people put "hotlinked" after a picture post? What's the point? What's up with that?

Aw, sweet! I'd completely forgotten how awesome these guys were.

If the hosting site changes the image, but retains the same filename, something completely different will appear. The person just wants to let us know that they are not at fault if something weird appears instead of what they linked to originally.

Necrocide 2008-08-16 04:11:35 PM
I worked with Chris Hyatte (and Scott Keith) briefly over at 411wrestling and 411mania.com before the split with Inside Pulse.

They're both just kind of douchebags that take themselves way too seriously, really.

suicide 2008-08-16 04:12:40 PM
Duke_Phillips: Yeah I saw that after I actually clicked on the link. Oh well, kind of seems like an odd submission, but it's still better than the 1000th SBB link

he's at 783 right now. check back next monday for the 1000th.

Got it. Thanks. I've been curious for some time.

Hi, after reading your profile I hope you commit your name. Enjoy your day. :)

myeager 2008-08-16 05:21:44 PM
Guys, please try to follow.

That site was pretty big in the late 90's during the wrestling boom, but it shut down in 2000 and everyone moved on to other things. So it stands to reason that those of you under 18 probably never heard of it. That's normal. However, for the 10th anniversary of the site's opening, they put the site back up with all the old articles still in place. There's hundreds of them.

Also, back in the day, ScoopThis was actually bigger than Fark, and it was through that site that a lot of us were first turned on to Fark (long before it became the monster success it is today).

If that's not work farking, I don't know what is. It's a nice nostalgia trip for the many of us of legal drinking age who remember the site and its writers.

don't worry, i'm working on it. keep being clever, though.

Yeah, I remember going onto Scoopthis, Hecklers, Comedynet, Talkspot, Corona's Coming Attractions, InterneTV and other sites like those a LOT in the late 90s. The days before youtube where you had to search pretty hard for a Realplayer version of a video.

God, I wish all of them could put their archives back up, as I would LOVE to relisten to all the Seattle era Dan and Scott's off of Talkspot.

I'm almost 40, and I followed wrestling online at it's peak.

And I've still never farking heard of it.

/who are these people again?

djtodd 2008-08-17 09:19:31 AM
I forgot about that site. The best were the "taped phone calls". But for a second I thought that Al Isaacs was back. Shudder.

/Press 1 if you want to get out of the flaming hole that is WCW.
//Poor Shane Douglas.

MrJesus 2008-08-17 10:11:30 AM
ScoopTHIS! actually spawned as a parody of Al Isaac's tremendously popular Scoops site that was pretty much the only one with legit 'connections' outside of 1wrestling.

He made a ton of money. I wrote for him for a few, as well as a number of long-since-deceased sites (including xwrestling! anyone remember the Scotsman?).. ScoopTHIS started the parody of all those types of places and outlasted most of them when most people stopped caring about wrestling.

Xwrestling spawned xentertainment. It's the only one I know of that made anything out of all the visitors we were getting back in the day. Well, that are Berry's retroCRUSH.

Scumdog42 2008-08-17 10:57:36 AM
I forgot all about this site! Hell, I think there's even a chance I wrote for them at one time.

I know did some wrestling parody stories for some site!

myeager 2008-08-17 11:10:32 AM
DOW: I'm almost 40, and I followed wrestling online at it's peak. And I've still never farking heard of it.

That's okay. Those guys never heard of you, either. Yet here you are dispensing your bitter opinions like they matter. To each their own, right? ;)

Also, the fact that the moderator (Drew?) actually went through the trouble of fetching ScoopThis's old link-up graphic for this one (when it hasn't been available in the drop-downs for several years) says maybe the site is more fondly remembered than you're implying.

Basically, just because you missed out on something doesn't mean it didn't happen for tens of thousands of others.

bill4935 2008-08-17 02:25:16 PM
Oh, no. I'm not clicking that. You got me once with "zombo" (new window), and I won't get fooled again.
