Why are they reuniting now? There's really nothing to "Rage" about is there?

/except the president we didn't elect.
//and his illegal war.
///and the fact the economy's in the shiatter.

I might have actually liked these guys if it wasn't for the lead singers terrible voice. Sounds like he's going through puberty and pissed off his dad wont let him use the car.

I could give a shiat about their politics. Do they rock? Yeah. Good enough for me.

/IMHO

SmackLT [TotalFark] 2008-08-16 11:38:56 AM
No way, these guys are still as great as they were 15 years ago. They had a concert a few weeks ago, at the end of the show Zack de la Rocha totally smashed his aluminum walker in wrinkled, impotent fury.

SockMonkeyHolocaust 2008-08-16 12:03:11 PM
You guyz don't understand, they use the methods and means of the enemy to destroy the enemy. So whenever they sign to a huge label like sony and sell their CDs for $15- that means that their $1 royalty will be going to a bunch of guys who just don't give a f*ck about the corporate machine.

HappyHarryHardOn [TotalFark] 2008-08-16 12:05:28 PM
COME ON!!! I want ZAch de la Rocha to look straight in the camera and tell us he's a communist. coz their political stance are hysterically amusing

goodbomb 2008-08-16 12:28:33 PM
come on you guys. Rage is good. Rage was one of the better bands of the 90s. My guess is they'll be pretty good reunited too.

boobsrgood [TotalFark] 2008-08-16 12:31:25 PM
Gosh, why can't we all just listen to Britney Spears and trust the President?

I mean seriously people, all this anger is, like, bad for your skin.

GrooveMonkeyZero 2008-08-16 01:07:01 PM
Oh yay! An anti war concert! 6 hours of pontificating from the stage and 2 of actual good music!

Nemo's Brother 2008-08-16 01:19:47 PM
I wonder how much Zach paid for his Che shirt at the Gap?

BobtheFascist 2008-08-16 01:21:11 PM
Kinda funny to think a group at an anti-war rally will be singing a song called "Rollin' down Rodeo with a shotgun".

I like RATM though. Back in the 90's when I was an absolute CD whore, I bought their 1st disc w/o even knowing who they were. I was pleasantly surprised. Love their music. And by music I mean the noise the 3 guys with instruments make. Never gave 2 shiats about their silly message.

hasty ambush 2008-08-16 01:36:19 PM
This war they are against; would that be the war in Georgia or are they only against American Wars?

emptykay 2008-08-16 03:56:06 PM
I just love all the hate for any band I like on here...
All of your views of his/their politics are really farkin' skewed. When it boils down, how can you be against freedom and equality for all people? Seriously, I know some of his rants are a little out there but it truly is just a "People are getting screwed, we're all being lied to, everybody needs to wake up and ask some questions"

I don't see how you people don't understand this or are against it. It's just disturbing how everyone's fake patriotism brainwashing runs SO deep. "uhh ah THINK that thur guy iz tawkin un-aMURRucunn; damn turrist."

The tragedy is there is no reachable audience for his message because the only peoople that feel strongly about any issue that matters in the world to do anything about don't get active... they BLOG.

I, on the other hand, totally love Rage AND their politics. Can all of you haters give me anybody else on a stage as large as them that have the balls to stand up and criticize the way things work? If you haven't looked out your window lately, our current state of the world isn't exactly utopian.

Mass graves for the pump and the price is set,
and the price is set

Funny how lyrics to a song from 9 years ago fit better now than ever.

/you guys don't get it because you're on the wrong side; as in, you are part of the machine we're raging against ;0

Here's a video (new window) of the band Rage Against the Machine stole their sound from.

Bad Religion, Crass and Jello Biafra are three fairly large bands/artists that are not only seriously involved in politics but all three, for the most part (aside from BR's jump to Atlantic for two albums), don't have to rationlize that their entire catalog makes money for major corporations and neither of the three ever had their name changed by their manager to make them more marketable.

Face it, Rage Against the Machine is pre-packaged politics for sale to ignorant college kids who want to feel like they are making a difference while shoveling out money to Clear Channel and Sony.

To make a more modern analogy: Rage Against the Machine is Pink to Pearl Jam's Britney Spears.

Leonard Pelt-who?

Further proof of the lack of knowledge among the young people.

RATM? Angst ridden screamers claiming to be for the masses as they make millions of dollars.

If they were REALLY for the masses they would strive to only make as much money as they need to feed, clothe and shelter themselves.

Fugazi comes to mind.

People who get their political beliefs from musicians need to
grow up.

I heard that Clone Wars sucked but I didn't think it was so bad as to cause RATM to get back together.

emptykay 2008-08-16 06:25:14 PM
Article also fails to mention that tickets are free... oh but I guess that's just them making suckers of fans and their big label trying to make every buck they can right?

Is there really such a high population of such farking jags on this site? Gahhh makes my head explode.

/gonna listen to some Rage and dedicate it to all you
//also check out the One Day as a Lion ep... rocks bawls

I like that one song that they do where the singer starts off kinda low about something he's pissed off about, and then when they get to the chorus *BAM* he starts yelling about it really loud. Then he tones it down again and then he starts yelling during the chorus, then the guitar is all *WI WI WIKI WI WOOO* and then he yells the chorus again.

You know that one?

Old, tired, sad, lame attempt at knocking something. Do you feel a lot better now going out of your way to rip on something you're not a fan of. They must be doing something right if they ruffle your feathers enough to go to a page about them just to biatch.

Oh, it's okay... I'm sure you have some amazing, ground breaking material just waiting to be released to the masses, right? Can't wait to hear how MUCH MUCH MUCH better YOU are than RATM.

/..im waiting
//HA now I see your handle and completely understand why your opinion is totally null and void.

I like that one song there singer first sings verse and then chorus while guitar players play guitars and drummer plays drums

An American group upset with an American war? THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!

Actually (and not that you'll come back and read this now), I do like RATM, and I like the Ramones and Motorhead... both of whom made a living releasing the same album a dozen times.

/not so much of a KISS fan, but I won't tire anyone with an explanation of the lame joke behind the fark handle.
