FYI:Odd (name), is a name of Old Norse origin, the 11th most common male name in Norway (coincidentally, Even is also a common Norwegian name). In Old Norse the word means the sharp end of a weapon, e.g. edge of a sword or spear/arrow head.

So Odd isn't too odd after all.

I'm pretty sure having a royal family was something we never got over as 'Mericans. We love the idea of idolizing a single group or lineage or family for lampooning, and usually, for being a political figure head. I see it in Flava Flav, Reality TV, and Brangelina. The more (negative) publicity the Kennedy's get the better.

One of the people I have come into contact with through work had the last name Harkonen (note the spelling.) I was initally very curious but refrained from letting my fanyboy-itis into the workosphere. I eventually told her she had the same last name as someone in my favorite book.

She said that her Grandfather and Herbert's Father both worked in the same Machine Shop in the northern part of the mid-west, Illonois or Minnesota or something. Point is, Herbert's father and her Grandfather were enemies and they hated eachother, so Herbert took his father's most hated coworker's last name and added an N to make it spelt Harkonnen (or perhaps the time and space warped his memory ((who needs to remember harkonen over harkonnen)) or maybe he liked the extra N; the point is who knows))) and made them the antagonists.

She also told me she has a family heirloom which is something like a signed early edition or some family notes providing documentation.
