Wow. He came across as an elitist dick. Great music, bad attitude.

My only question is where the hell can I score the mp3 to the music in the scene where Deckard is questioning strip club owner Taffey Lewis. Very sleazy, Arabic-sounding stuff with a singer in the background.

The song has not surfaced in any of Vangelis' Blade Runner compilations.

Many of your fans might have expected a synthetic, 'Beauborg'-style score for Blade Runner, rather than the rich and emotional tapestry of themes that you came up with. How concerned were you with disassociating the Blade Runner score from the bombast of Star Wars and the 'artificial' style of many previous sci-fi themes?

In order to answer your question I need a special talent that some people have to talk about their work endlessly, something I find very difficult and boring to do. So, I will just say that I did what I felt like doing at the moment I did it.

Maybe he just didn't understand the question. I sure as hell didn't.

True dat. "My self-esteem -- journalistic and otherwise -- depends on how complex my questions are."

That said, no one was forcing Vangelis to do the interview, so throw the interviewer a frikkin' bone and talk already.

I have it. I have a 2-disk BR soundtrack (an import) and it's on disk 2, called "Taffey Lewis Night Club"

This was probably an email exchange. Not a great selection of questions either, but I'm not saying I could do any better. I don't think Vangelis came across as a dick, but I'm pretty sure he's tired of answering questions about Blade Runner, and especially about all the issues that befell the release of the score. The first question needs to be read like 4 times to be understood.

I think what the interviewer was saying is that people expected the Blade Runner soundtrack to sound more like "Tron" or something, instead of being as lush as it was.

Been a fan since
www.multinet.no
(But never got into the Aphrodite's Child stuff)

He sounds like he comes from the Robert Fripp school of musical discussion.
"Mr. Fripp, I didn't care for your last King Crimson record."
"Then it sounds like it's time for you to find another band to listen to."

No? I still listen to "The Four Horsemen" from 666 occasionally.

I like his work with Jon Anderson.
I never really got into his solo stuff [but i do have "soil festivities" on vinyl.]
I have "666" by Aphrodite's Child on vinyl too.... it's a good album... a handful of FREAKIN GREAT songs surrounded by mediocre filler.

I think that's the fan created "Esper Edition" which is much more robust than the OST.

bigpeeler He came across as an elitist dick.

People who aren't full of sh*t are often confused with "elitist"
I believe.

His inability to "talk about his work endlessly" might be an indication of someone who is unpretentious and non-egotistical.

Wouldn't an "elitist dick" most likely also be arrogant and be more inclined to go on and on endlessly about their own accomplishments?

Not Trolling,
just asking.
