The market doesn't care about January 21st or the following 4 years as much as it cares about the next 15 minutes. ALWAYS.

I took the notion that the market is tanking in fear of an Obama presidency with as much of a grain of salt as I did in 2000 when liberals were saying the market tanked because it feared a Bush presidency. Which is to say a grain large enough to set out in a field and attract deer.

The market is tanking because Chimpy has been treating the Treasury like a farkin' ATM.

Other reality- legislation introduced by McCain's former financial adviser is what caused the housing burst in the first place.
And that, my friends, is not de-regulation we can believe in.

Um, there is no comparison. Bush couldn't manage a single business that he ran. Including a sports team, and an oil business (one of the most lucrative business you can manage).

So... really we're talking about a grain of salt and a big ole block of salt.

Wall Street donates more to Obama, deployed troops donate more to Obama, troops in general donate more to Obama...

Not surprising. They know he doesn't have any pro-business leanings, so they are hoping they can buy some sense into him.

Wall Street isn't dumb. It knows a candidate it can buy when it sees one.

Forget ideology.

Money donates to winners. Money always wants to be on the winning team. They believe Obama will win, ergo more money.

And for my finale:

Electoral Vote Predictor Aug 15th 2004: Kerry 327 Bush 211

Electoral Vote Predictor Aug 15th 2008: Obama 275 McCain 250

Once you eliminate all the people who are only claiming to support Obama so they can't be accused of being racist, I think you'll find that Michelle won't be picking out curtains any time soon.

Ya, that's right. People who are racist are coming out as Obama supports to prove something.

Which is... what exactly? Racists are fine being racists.

You mean, ignoring the other three permutations that Electoral-Vote.com did that showed Bush winning easily, and the fact they labeled that one poll as an outlier?

I mean... you're not ignoring information that's not convenient to your point, are you? No... no. You wouldn't do that.

"Once you eliminate all the people who are only claiming to support Obama so they can't be accused of being racist"

I know you're just trolling but ill bite anyway.

People don't pretend to support someone to avoid being called racist. If someone really was worried about being called racist they would claim they were undecided.

But people who are bigoted will cling to flimsy excuses to avoid voting for a person they are bigoted againt. "Socialist", "he's racist because his preacher is scary" and "well kerry was winning then he lost so that means obama will lose too" all come to mind.

But I'm sure you knew all that already.

Don't forget the little scandal in California involving Enron as well as a little matter of high oil prices in recent years. Notice that the Enron Loophole was closed and prices have been steadily dropping since.

If this is change, then I am all for it.

LOL

Republicans in their current ofrm pride themselves on not making rational sense.

Jesus Christ dumbasses, the only way a black guy with a Muslim name could EVER be elected president is the Republicans being completely irrational and out of touch. They have reached it.

In fact, they are so goddamn stupid they don't even realize they are driving people away in droves. LATER biatchES.

Here's the thing then: How do you propose America begins to pay off all the debt she has accumulated?

I mean, the Republican plan always seems to be "Give money to rich people, and maybe they'll throw you some scraps". I'd rather soak the rich than the poor. Ordinarily I'd say that it wouldn't make sense to impoverish the non-wealthy otherwise who would buy the products of all your Patriotic Capitalists? But I realised rich people in America [hell everywhere] don't care about the nationality of who buys their stuff. So having bankrupted the people of this nation, there's so many more emerging markets for them to peddle their wares to. They don't need you regular Americans anymore. The last helicopter out of Nam just left.

If Putin was running for US President, he'd be getting all the money from Wall Street. Hosts are trying to endear themselves to the parasites in the hope that they will be allowed to exist in any new communist US regime. Any presidential candidate who doesn't run on a platform of executing the parasites by the thousands on a daily basis shouldn't really even be considered for the presidency in this day and age, but unfortunately, both McCain and Obama are parasite extremists.

Because we should tax the people who produce more than the people who own capital.

Somehow, its fairer to tax Warren Buffet less than his secretary.

You do realize you NEVER pay taxes on a home you own if you live in it, right? I know there is a lot of right-wing propoganda out there about the estate tax and capital gains. What do you know about the capital gains tax?

Sabyen91: Warren's secretary does NOT pay capital gains.

Warren's secretary would pay capital gain's taxes if that person sells stocks at a profit, and can't offset it by up to $3000 in losses, IIRC. Likely that secretary would buy and sell a few stocks, and probably gets a few tips from Warren.

It's a matter of record that she derives most of her income from a salary. Ergo, she pays a higher tax rate than Warren who makes it from moving money around.

Sabyen91 seems to be under the impression that owning a house is somehow a capital gain, and is seemingly unaware of property taxes, or reality.

Yes, the market is reacting right now to an election result that isn't in, and a budget that hasn't even been drafted. Because the market is really that fragile, and investors are skittish little birds who watch Presidential poll results.

Yes, that damn, dirty, Liberal media. How can we be so blind?

I am impressed by the power that Obama has to make Wall Street so afeared. He's got them so scared on the premise that he might win, that folks are quaking in their boots.

Never mind the financial new, the banks that may be tanking, the oddness in the Middle East and the Caucuses. Nope. That probably has nothing to do with it.
