Not only is this headline full of win, it will sail clean over the heads of, oh, 90% of Fark readers. Well done!

The deal also gives immunity to the Libyan government from any further terror-related lawsuits, the Libyan government official said.

Well, given the Libyans long history of reasonableness and moderation, I'm sure we can trust them to behave themselves from, now on, right?

/snark.

Okay, that's two... and I'm not seeing a Mary Mack reference anywhere in that headline. All I'm seeing is the old Libby's jingle.

Here's a snippet of the poem:

Miss Mary Mack, Mack, Mack
All dressed in black, black, black
With silver buttons, buttons, buttons
All down her back, back, back.

She asked her mother, mother, mother
For 50 cents, cents, cents
To see the elephants, elephants, elephants
Jump over the fence, fence, fence.

I am familiar with the poem, thank you. While it does share the triple repetition with Mary Mack, that's about it. Have you ever heard the Libby's jingle?

Whoa! Where did the Wayback Machine come from? Libby's, Libby's Libby's...

That farking song will be stuck in my head all day. Thanks subby ;-)

As to TFA, I still would not trust Libya. Crazy bastards.

My stepsister (She's a Brit) worked for Pan Am at the time. She scheduled flight crews for their flights. She knew the whole crew and lost a lot of friends that day, some who had been guests in her home while they were on layover in England. I always felt bad for her about that. It really effected her.

To each his own, I guess. I had never heard the Libby's jingle before, which would explain why Satan_Sunburn and I associated the headline with Miss Mary Mack.

I just had this jingle stuck in my head yesterday!

Fourth grade teacher used to say it whenever she called on a classmate named Libby... I suppose thats how I came to know it... can't remember the actual commercial.

confewshus 2008-08-15 12:36:35 PM
When I read that headline, all I could think of was that someone should 'shop the "Libs! Libs! Libs!" guy to say "Libya!" instead. I would happily provide that hypothetical person with both a +1 and a golf clap.
