Appropriately, it was the 10-meter air pistol competition.

After all the hype about the ReDream team, and the steroided up athletes, these two girls show what the Olympics are really about.

Congratulations, girls. Too bad there isn't a gold metal for being a good Human Being.

"If the world were to draw any lessons from what I did, there would never be any wars," Salukvadze, 39, said afterward, according to media reports.

No kidding. If everyone could shoot as well as she can, wars would be over in no time. Not nearly as fun for the generals.

Then, a Russian bomber came by and blew up the platform.

This is unrelated, but did anyone just hear on NBC the announcer in the gymnastics saying, "I was searching on the internet and I came across this little girl..."

Creepy shiat.

The point is, it is what the Olympics are supposed to be about. And perhaps the larger world can see that duking it out over differences is not very smart.

Sharpshooters from Russia and Georgia embraced Sunday after earning medals for their countries, which have been teetering on the brink of war since the Beijing Summer Olympics kicked off last week.

So they aren't at war yet?

I don't know, but the 2-player simulated bear sex would be a fascinating event.

Russia invades Georgia, kills people and then the Georgian athlete hugs a member of Russia to say "it's all alright". I wonder who got the better end of the bargain on this one.

There hasn't been a formal declaration of war from either country. So technically, they aren't at war. Then again, Hezbollah and Israel weren't technically at war two years ago, and now that conflict is referred to as the Israel-Lebanon war.

But as far as the media is concerned, if they're teetering on the brink of war, people will be checking back every hour to see if the situation has escalated. That's a lot of extra pageviews.

I bet they go back to their Olympic hotel room together and have Olympic sex and give each other a gold medal in the muff dive.

Well, the big guy in the playground won't kiss the little kid's ass after kicking it. I cautiously call Irony, as wars were supposed to stop during the Olympic games, or at least used to. To lazy to see how many wars continued that were also participants in the Games.

I'm a realist. I understand what the olympics are about and its all well and good that they hugged. I would rather see an article saying "Russian and Georgia Reach Peaceful Compromise". I'm just glad this got the "sappy" tag

2/10 for subtlety and timing, otherwise flat. The grownups in the room no longer believe in Santa Claus.

What a load of horseshiat. The woman from Georgia is a dumbfark. People often confuse turning the other cheek with grabbing your ankles and getting reamed. Russia is invading Georgia because they don't like NATO. Hundreds, if not thousands, are being killed. This is not a time for forgiveness or some lovey dovey Olympic hug. This is a time to slap the bear in the face. fark Russia, the only response is force at this time. WOLVERINES!!!!!!

So the fact that Georgia attacked Russian peacekeepers instigating this fight means nothing to you?

Putin and Medeved are showing they won't take the United States sabre rattling any longer. Now we've gone and meddled in their affairs in the Caspian region.

Yeah, I heard it. Right before she fell on her side. HEH. Anyway, the world should take heed from these two women. The Olympics are such a good display of how to coexist peacefully.

"Bush has rejected doubt, introspection, ambivalence and responsibility. By embracing the AEI [American Enterprise Institute] manifesto, he asserts the warrior virtues of will, perseverance and resolve." (new window)
