Well, duh! It's named after the father of a previous CIA chief!

I wouldn't worry, there's not much worth bombing in Kenya.

You know... I want to be in support of all this secret prison stuff. I want to support the extraordinary rendition, I want to support the torture.

But with all we are doing, we should be an intelligence dynamo. There should be zero terrorist threat, and we should be crusading through the middle east laying waste to everything in our path and annexing everything we can.

But we've got jack to show for the trillions spent and shady dealings done. I hope our next President, whoever he is, can either do this crap right, or stop doing it. I don't care, just don't be so unforgivably bad at whatever you decide to do.

I suspect that with Obama being the next president, there will be a renewed interest in Africa. The military is just being proactive and laying the groundwork for that future.

Pretty weird that Prescott Support Group isn't in the media, or has no online references aside from this article.

Possibilities:

rendition of terror suspects,
testing remote sensing (mapping, not esp) gear on desert terrain (Turkana is really, really dry, except for the big lake),
random shenanigans,
unsupported speculation and rumour, as is fairly common in Kenyan media.

FTFA: "On Thursday, Kenya marked the 10th anniversary since the terrorist attack on the US embassy in Nairobi on August 7, 1998. The terrorism remained real after the mastermind, Fazul, sneaked into the country but beat a police dragnet for the fourth time."

Some folks in Kenya are a tad skittish about rendition, and combatting terrorism.

With good reason?

Hey, if you're going to do the rendition thang, involve Al Gore. He's had experience, and your carbon footprint will be minimized.

/damn that Richard Clarke.

The US government has every right to conduct whatever military manuvers it deems fit - some of it we simply are better off not knowing about. To be completely honest - we (as a people) are too stupid to understand/comprehend the reasons - that's why they make the big bucks, to think for us. Trust - yes, sometimes it's called 'blind allegence' - is TOTALLY necessary for our way of life to continue and flourish.

Bunch of monday morning quarterbacks will be biatching and moaning when the next bit attack comes - just know your government is going to do everything it can to protect you. It's just that sometime it's in ways you simply cannot comprehend... Have faith.

If it is published on 'eastandard.net', I think it is safe to say that the story is 100% unquestionably accurate.

hasty ambush 2008-08-10 07:03:36 PM
Only one aircraft listed in the article would be capable of making the flight from the US to Kenya; the L382/C-130 adn that would be an extremly long and uncomfortable flight

If it was a CIA type operation odds are they would use soemthing other than marked US miltiary aircraft and armor like something of the old Air America operation. Certainly nobody would be in uniform

Sorry to throw water on everybodies tin foil hat moment butthearticle is vague at best and I think what you might have going on here with the CN235 (a STOL aircraft) is either a DEA opertaion or CIA counter-terror operation, not the tranport of terror perisoners out of GITMO witht eaircraft listed.

Oh BALONEY......bloggers and website posters get all of their truth and facts from the internets.....clearly their criticisms and opinions have FAR more merit than those who are actually DOING the work.

if we would only just listen to their knowlege and expertise there would be no wars, no terrorism, free healthcare for all, cheap food, homes for everyone and a grand " alternative " energy source that is plentiful and free to completely replace " big oil "

As for the loss of millions of jobs that depend on oil abd gas, remember, they're going to make sure everyone in America has free healthcare, free housing, cheap ( ok...FREE ) food and a free supply of energy so everything will be just perfect.

I know they have all the answers, I've read their statements online.

Too bad our government was never designed to be blindly trusted.

"Unless the mass retains sufficient control over those entrusted
with the powers of their government, these will be perverted to
their own oppression, and to the perpetuation of wealth and power
in the individuals and their families selected for the trust.
Whether our Constitution has hit on the exact degree of control
necessary, is yet under experiment." --Thomas Jefferson to M.
van der Kemp, 1812.

Right on comrade!

Why listen to and ( oh, I don't know..DO A LITTLE RESEARCH to verify ) something that makes sense when it's so much more fum to believe an unproven and paranoid conspiracy theory.

Instead of asking hasty ambush " how could you know this " it makes far more sense for you to be asking that of the writers of this story.

Oh that's right, sense, I forgot
